Guest crasin Posted October 22, 2006 Report Posted October 22, 2006 Hi all have a 1.9tdi 90bhp model galaxy and am having problems lining up crankshaft marks as cannot find them on the flywheel end have managed to do fuel pump and camshaft but cannot for the life of me can see the marks on the flywheel!! been round god knows how many times any help? many thanks crasin Quote
AndeeeH Posted October 22, 2006 Report Posted October 22, 2006 Note:If the corresponding marking on the transmission housing cannot be seen, the centre of the hole must be used. Note:The TDC marking on the flywheel and the corresponding marking on the upper transmission housing (inspection hole) must line up. This is what TIS says and looking at the diagram the marking could be on the inside of the flywheel and only be visible looking away from the engine towards the transmission. <_< Andy. Quote
Guest crasin Posted October 22, 2006 Report Posted October 22, 2006 Thanks for the reply but there does not seem to be any markings on the "hole" and cannot see any markings on the flywheel whatsoever?? According to autodata and haynes manual there should be what appears to be 2 holes to line up but i only have 1 hole so bit confused many thanks crasin Quote
Vanbursta Posted October 22, 2006 Report Posted October 22, 2006 Could you post full details of your car please? Quote

Guest neil_wiles Posted October 23, 2006 Report Posted October 23, 2006 Whatever happewned to measuring the rise and fall of the piston to find tdc, i just did a renault engine and used a fine rod as a flag to set tdc. It worked perfectly as it always has. Quote
seatkid Posted October 23, 2006 Report Posted October 23, 2006 Somebody once posted that there is a TDC mark on the pulley end also. If in doubt, remove no.1 injector - (maybe no1. glow plug would do) and stick in a stiff wire/welding rod and use that. Quote

Arr ... but is that on the compression or exhaust stroke? Quote
