familyman Posted October 25, 2006 Report Posted October 25, 2006  ouch - this could be tricky, sometimes there is only so much you can do yourself,at least you can drive the car ,so it's not a total disaster. There should be a tuning shop in swindon who should have a rolling road .Any one near got a vag com ? that might be worth a go. Quote

mumof4 Posted October 25, 2006 Author Report Posted October 25, 2006 The middle bit i think slots in and is secured by something but it is obscured by pipes..on the bottom it just lifts off..but in the top two corners there are screw type things that i cant undo... gawd..never thought of tis..brb Quote
tim-spam Posted October 25, 2006 Report Posted October 25, 2006 Have the brakes lost their bite at low speed, because, if they have, this would point to a vacuum leak somewhere, which may also prevent the turbocharger vanes from moving to increase boost pressure. Another thing to try is gently pulling off the small hose that dropped off before and listening for a hiss, which would indicate whether it's holding vacuum or not. If there is no significant vacuum, it's then 'just' a case of tracing the leak or blockage. There are many other possible things to check, but this is a good place to start. Quote
mumof4 Posted October 25, 2006 Author Report Posted October 25, 2006 That little pipe..i heard nothing from it before.....but i will try it again.Brakes seem fine. Quote
mumof4 Posted October 25, 2006 Author Report Posted October 25, 2006 well..i have been told by him that knows best..that didnt know it wasnt ford engine..that never checks the oil..that incorrectly inflates the tyres..who doesnt know what tyre size we should have..who knows less than me..that i am wrong..that the car is fine but it has lost his poke..when asked to describe poke i ws told its pick up speed...well..i am female..what the flippen eck do i know...he has now decided that i am not allowed to work on the car anymore and that it will be fine untill it has been run into the ground...so i appreciate all your help in this matter and thank you for trying to help  from one very pi55ed of mumof4. Are they hexagonal on the outside as in like nuts? Are they round with slots in the middle like a screw head? Do they have a star shape in the middle a la Torx bolt? Like this: or this: gawd..never thought of tis..brb I can't find anything on TIS about the boost control solenoid nor about the shroud that covers it  Quote

Dave-G Posted October 26, 2006 Report Posted October 26, 2006 Treat the "screws" as nuts, pressed out of plate.  My sisters Gal had one of the components behind it fail... and yes the symptoms were loss of power. It could be 'reset by doing a restart - only to fail again a short while later. I don't know which one it was. That work was beyond me - as I have no ideer how to test the components lurking in that unreachable dark abyss. Maybe you have tiny hands? It was left to a garage to repair... they tried one at a time, and got it right the second time, after she aborted her return to cornwall after 50 odd miles. I also draw your attention to another one of my recent posts, anticipating a reply from you MO4 :( Quote
mumof4 Posted October 26, 2006 Author Report Posted October 26, 2006 Oh yes..i have seen that post and am composing a suitable reply in Word! :( Quote
