chromedome Posted October 16, 2006 Report Posted October 16, 2006 When I bought my Galaxy it 8k on the clock so I asked for it to be serviced prior to me picking it up. I am now coming up to 15k and the car is telling me it wants servicing, I would expect this to be at 18k. So my question is, can you change the service intervals from 10k to 15k thus the dealer disquising the service? It goes in for service on Thursday, one year, so your comments are most welcome. Quote
NikpV Posted October 16, 2006 Report Posted October 16, 2006 there is a 'variable service' scheme available - can't remember the exact name which depends not only on mileage but on the the type of journeys taken - its a vw thing - wonder if yours has been put on that schedule?? Quote
El Dingo Posted October 16, 2006 Report Posted October 16, 2006 IIRC, with VAG-COM you can set: 1. Distance until the next service.2. Distance until Inspection 1.3. Time until Inspection 1.4. Time until Inspection 2. These are set in 1,000 km units. So I suppose the dealer could have set anything he wants... Edit: Variable servicing - I don't know how that works... anyone? Quote
seatkid Posted October 17, 2006 Report Posted October 17, 2006 Galaxys are all on fixed service intervals - 10,000 miles or one year whatever comes first. The service indicator is set to display at the same intervals. The reason it came on at 15k is simple - it was a year since it was last reset - i.e. when you had it "serviced", the idle buggers didn't reset the service indicator (in my experience they rarely do). Fortunately, it is easy to reset yourself. Just press and hold the trip button, turn the the ignition key on and continue to hold the button for five or six seconds - voila! ...the service indicator is reset! Don't blindly follow the service indicator - if it isnt reset when it should be, its a meaningless tool. Use your service record instead to determine when you want it serviced. Quote
chromedome Posted October 19, 2006 Author Report Posted October 19, 2006 Had the Galaxy serviced today and guess what.......................they've damaged the sills yet again. I'm onto Ford at the moment raising a case against the dealer. I've had three Galaxys to date and they've damaged the sills on every one. Notes have been put on the job sheets to take care but it appears they take no notice. About six times this has happened, I'm so angry and I know I'm not the only one it happens to. Quote
