Guest peterd51 Posted October 15, 2006 Report Posted October 15, 2006 Hi Guys, it's an 'R' reg and I've only had it for a couple of days (it's a cheap run-about until I sort out my V reg GLX). After turning on the ignition and waiting for the 'heater' light to go out I turn to the start position and sometimes it doesn't turn over. Sometimes there's a slight pause and then it turns over. There's a loud buzzing from somewhere near, or under, the fuel filter that stops when the heater light goes out...is this normal? I've had the ignition switch apart and the voltage is switched every time. There's not always a voltage at the solenoid connector on the side of the battery. The diagram shows a relay and a diode in the engine compartment fuse box. I'm not sure but I think the relay is the yellow one, does this all make sense? I'm hoping it's just the relay but I'm open to suggestions. RegardsPeter Quote
Guest peterd51 Posted October 17, 2006 Report Posted October 17, 2006 Hi guys, following up... I've found a bit more on the diagram that I didn't see before. The earth lead for the relay goes through the alarm panel. And when it won't start, the 3 - 4 seconds of 'buzzing' around the fuel filter isn't there. I've also seen the red light on in the clock area so I reckon it's the immobiliser that's playing up. I can bypass the earth to the relay but I'm not sure about the buzzing... I'd guess that it's a fuel valve being opened. I wonder if I can disconnect it while it's open? RegardsPeter Quote
