I have tried to change my rear brake shoes today and i am having problems.the hub nut is a strange thing made up of a few thin nuts wrapped in a tin outer..I have managed to get it off but in doing so i will need a new hub nut..I have not seen one like that before......or have i done something wrong if so how should i have gone about it and have i made problems for myself.

Willie,

Best way is to remove the whole hub, this can be done by removing the 4 17 bolts that are behind the backplate. This allows the whole drum and bearing to be removed.

its a size 30 or 32mm nut from memory you should just undo it like any other nut!
