Jeff Tipps Posted October 26, 2006 Report Posted October 26, 2006 I've done 3,200 miles now in new shape Galaxy no problems as yet. One thing a few of you have overlooked is safety:- VW Sharan NCAP test results New Ford Galaxy NCAP test results You have to admit they are pretty impressive test results & I think the new Galaxy/S-MAX have the highest ever safety scores to date. I'm sure the new Seat and VW MPV's will have very high safety standards as well. I had the choice of a new shape or old shape Galaxy and the high NCAP rating was one thing that helped make the decision. I guess in a few years even this new Galaxy will be replaced by one with even higher safety scores. Quote
tim-spam Posted October 26, 2006 Report Posted October 26, 2006 The NCAP results are for the Mk 1 Sharan, and are pretty good for a car made before 2000 (the equivalent Chrysler Voyager, amongst others, barely scored 1 star). The Mk 2 has had many safety improvements, including a stiffer bodyshell, but has not been tested by NCAP. I'm certain that the new Sharan will be even better than the Mk 2, but NCAP tests are at best only a simulation of real crash situations - so, although these tests give a reasonable indication of crash safety, there are many other tests that the better manufacturers carry out before they will sign off a new car's structure (and some of their tests are much more realistic than the NCAP tests). Other manufacturers (Renault?) design specifically to get a good NCAP result for marketing purposes. Quote

Which in gpb is..........ummmmmmmm a lot of money  I like the mk 2 galaxy and never knew a mk 3 existed even, a good deal was offered on the mk 3 and purely for work reasons it made sense to buy. Bet you will change your mind when i send a pic of my "spare wheel" set up!!!!!! :D Quote
AndeeeH Posted October 26, 2006 Report Posted October 26, 2006 funny then that the ford site shows brittax uni whatever fitting seats ??Hi Nik,There is no mention of the convertable child seats in the 'New Galaxy' brochure just various Britax ones with ISOFIX mounting points. As the seats in the new one fold flat rather than come out it would have to be a factory fit option if other seats were available?? Andy. Quote

Guest HairyPlateEater Posted October 31, 2006 Report Posted October 31, 2006 56 reg comes after 06 reg. So if the 56 reg had it in, would that mean that they now do it whereas they didnt in the 06 reg vehicles? A lot of extras in new model cars come out after a few months of them being initially put on the market (including certain paint colours) I'm not sayng that you're wrong mo4 ... just trying to save you a couple of drinks :P :D Quote
