jwilliams Posted October 24, 2006 Report Posted October 24, 2006 Are there any pics of the sharan replacement yet? I like the look of the new galaxy from the outside but don't like the flappy folding seats. Quote
Guest larryo Posted October 24, 2006 Report Posted October 24, 2006 Car went to dealers yesterday to sort out non working radio/cd. Turned out to be a pinched wire connected to the aerial..............tut tut Ford q.c. Changing topic for a bit is the new galaxy dash layout much different from the mk11? http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y197/marty31/IMG_0006.jpg Quote

johnb80 Posted October 25, 2006 Report Posted October 25, 2006 Interesting the different views, I think the new dash is awful yet others like it, great that we have choice. The new Gal outside I could live with, the roof on the inside is different and interesting but the dash euk. So with the above in mind and the fact there's no spare that all adds up to no more Gals for me. Regards- J Quote
tim-spam Posted October 25, 2006 Report Posted October 25, 2006 But the real replacement for the current cars is due out in 2007, with a far better choice of engines and one can but hope that it will not replicate some of the errors with the new Galaxy such as not having a spare wheel, even as an option. delboyt Posted October 25, 2006 Report Posted October 25, 2006 i agree with mumthe mk 1 & 2 are better shapesatleast you know what you see when you see one as we older gal, alamb & sharan ownersare individual as you know what it is when you see itthe new one looks like most other cars on the road & lost it individuallity.on the case of now shap or old shapmy local taxi firm got to change all their fleets of gals & have toldmy local for dealership they only want the older mk2 shapesnot the new shapes or they will not have any of themthis taxi firm is part of bristol airport (airportcars).you looking at a fleet of 40 taxis all galaxys.they must know something if they don't want them me thinks ? Quote
Guest larryo Posted October 25, 2006 Report Posted October 25, 2006 Well Del................what actually is a "better" shape? Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.......... Regarding the taxi firm....my take on that is they are waiting a while till any teething problems (if there is any that is) are sorted out on the new gal. Dont be surprised in 6 months if you see them change to the mk 3 model. Quote
tim-spam Posted October 25, 2006 Report Posted October 25, 2006 They're still making the Alhambra - with the 2.0 TDI 140 as well. So they could go to Seat instead of Ford, and they'll save a few grand into the bargain. Quote
AndeeeH Posted October 25, 2006 Report Posted October 25, 2006 'Airport Carz' operate out of most UK airports and must buy/lease hundreds of Galaxys. They keep them for 6-9 months and put upto 60k miles on them. They are mostly Tdi Zetec manuals and are usually serviced locally to the airport they operate from. Winford Ford look after the Bristol ones and they regularly have a batch for sale at reasonable prices considering the above average milage. Andy. Quote
Guest blatters Posted October 25, 2006 Report Posted October 25, 2006 What the hec, I'm going in.......... exterior - not much of a looker. Scope for designers must be limited with MPV's but I thought MK2 was a good effort; :D those seats look a bit thin, floppy and when folded down the load floor looks a tad untidy; dash looks better than MK2 which is tired and radio / buttons well out of date. But not keen on silver everywhere - current fashion won't last long; bigger inside than MK2; too expensive and does not fit well into price niche; where are they all? Hardly seen any since launch. Short suppy or does the absence of MK3 on the road tell its own story? Regards Blatters PS. At least it'll not have a novel but unreliable booster heater and perhaps build quality will be better. Ford dealers still generally useless though - no change there. Sorry folks, couldn't help myself. I'll get my coat! Quote
tim-spam Posted October 26, 2006 Report Posted October 26, 2006 At least it'll not have a novel but unreliable booster heaterNot really novel - Eberspachers are very common on commercial vehicles and quite a few cars destined for colder climates. Shouldn't be unreliable either, if properly maintained (and there's the real problem). How will the new Galaxy diesels get warm inside, unless some form of supplimentary heating is provided - unless, of course the Ford diesel is less efficient than the VAG one and can provide sufficient waste heat..... Quote
Dave-G Posted October 26, 2006 Report Posted October 26, 2006 I personally dont beleive the "so efficient it dont produce waste heat" theory more like: for some reason we don't know, the cabin heater matrix cant be supplied with hot water untill the engine coolant thermostat opens. Quote
NikpV Posted October 26, 2006 Report Posted October 26, 2006 :( where are they all? Hardly seen any since launch. Short suppy or does the absence of MK3 on the road tell its own story? Regards Blatters Only seen one - parked up at hinchingbrooke country park last saturday Having looked at the ford site it also appears that the mk3 doesnt have the nifty converting seats :( (we have 3 of these) Quote
mumof4 Posted October 26, 2006 Report Posted October 26, 2006 YUp..they do have the child seats..i got shown one in the ghia.(when i went for a gander) Quote
NikpV Posted October 26, 2006 Report Posted October 26, 2006 funny then that the ford site shows brittax uni whatever fitting seats ?? Quote
mumof4 Posted October 26, 2006 Report Posted October 26, 2006 No idea..when i looked at the new gal,he showed me the seat that converts to booster and baby seat....ive never actually seen one so was impressed. But it did have one in. Quote
NikpV Posted October 26, 2006 Report Posted October 26, 2006 beginning to think that the ford configurator needs sorting out  :( Quote
