TerryM Posted October 14, 2006 Report Posted October 14, 2006 I will shortly be in the market for a Galaxy with which to tow my caravan. I presently have a 1995 Scorpio Cosworth Estate Auto which is great but is getting a bit long in the tooth. In addition ,with the van on the back it can scrape over humps in the road.My question is which model of Gal to go for. The 24v would be the first choice but I'm moving to Ireland next year and the Road tax on that size engine is just ridiculous, about Quote
Guest MATT jr Posted October 14, 2006 Report Posted October 14, 2006 with regards to automatics and diesel power outputs - the diesel automatics come in the 115PS engine only. I would go for the 1.9TDI Automatic, rather than the 2.3 petrol - because... - Get more miles to the gallon- more torque - which is important for pulling power. we tow a 1350KG caravan easily with ours. only problem with diesel is - the MAF sensors fail regular (ish) - this causes about 20% loss of power (guesstimate) and poor mpg. a new one is about Quote
