maclincs Posted October 14, 2006 Report Posted October 14, 2006 Hi all, I have a 1998 Alhambra tdi done 173,000 mile and although I'm still getting good economy the engine is sounding tired.I had a new gearbox fitted (from scrap yard) last year coz 3rd crunched and it still crunches on this one !! What I need to know is where can I find a tdi engine or engine & gearbox and will it really fit straight in if I use an engine out of a Galaxy or Sharan or is this just a myth, will the engine management work and is there any other cars out there with and engine or engine & box that will fit without too much trouble, is someone selling a damaged one that I can take an engine from (so many questions :( I'd appreciate any help that anyone can give me on this because I'm doing about 2000 miles per week and worried that its gonna pop Thanks mac Quote
TimsBamma Posted October 19, 2006 Report Posted October 19, 2006 My belief is that engine wise the TDI versions of the galaxy/Sharan/Alhambra are the same year for year ie you'd need to find a 1998 diesel. their would be plenty of detail differences if you tried fitting a Mk2 (2000+) PD engine in for instance. You don't say whether your's is 90 or 110bhp again their MIGHT be differences other than ECU, I'm sure there are peeps far more knowledgeable than I who will pop up soon. Quote
