Bigjeeze Posted October 12, 2006 Report Posted October 12, 2006 I need some help My remote key for MKII has stopped working. I assumed this would be batteries and have changed them but to no avail. The little red light flashes but it has no effect on the doors at all. The doors all work fine with using the key in the lock. Any ideas? Quote

tomy Posted October 12, 2006 Report Posted October 12, 2006 mine on my Mk1 died the other week , I changed the batteries and tried reprogramming it but i think the control box has died, central locking still works on the key though , the control box is dry as well , I was htinking of buying an alarm which I can link up to the central locking which would give a better remote control instead of my crap one which even when it did work you had to be virtually inside the car to unlock it!!!!!! Guest gooner52 Posted October 12, 2006 Report Posted October 12, 2006 unpluged the central locking module and our focus and it worked fine after tried about 4 batterys before,we no luck Quote
strouf Posted October 12, 2006 Report Posted October 12, 2006 Have you tried to reprogramm it ?Do you have another key that works ? Quote
Bigjeeze Posted October 12, 2006 Author Report Posted October 12, 2006 Have you tried to reprogramm it ?Do you have another key that works ? No I haven't tried to re program it - it didn't just die it took a few days progressivley getting harder and harder to open the locks which is why I thought it was batteries. I have all the keys but only this one is a radio key. Quote
keith9534 Posted October 12, 2006 Report Posted October 12, 2006 I think its an RF key....try new batteries first...failing that the switches inside get worn out (well at least mine did on the Mondeo?) Quote
Bigjeeze Posted October 13, 2006 Author Report Posted October 13, 2006 I tried re programming it today - nothing doing. I took the key to bits - the switches appear to operate OK. Is there anyting in the car like a fuse etc that I can check? Quote
NikpV Posted October 13, 2006 Report Posted October 13, 2006 if it died slowly then won't be a fuse, new batteries (where did you get your 'new' batteries from?) and reprogram needed, ps don't lose the pats chip while changing the batteries, btw it is an rf key, does the car go into programming mode?
