Engine Reving Constantly

i have a problem with ford galaxy 1.9 tdi. I recently had to replace brake light switch., when old switch was removed the engine started to rev constantly. this problem has continued with new break switch. tried removing new switch but didnt solve problem. Any help greatly appreciated.

Whe fitting the new switch have you disturbed the wiring to the accelerator position sensor about the throttle pedal as this will cause the engine to rev fairly high.
