Guest Andyboy Posted October 11, 2006 Report Posted October 11, 2006 One problem with my Oct 96 Ka 1 - driver's door would lock but not unlock with the key. I fired WD40 into it and the lock would then unlock but only by jiggling the key about - not too clever. So I took the door trim off and had a look. Well I tried to as the door lock is internally shielded by a black steel cover. It's glued to the door skin with black mastic but is rivetted to the inside of the door frame with two steel rivets. I drilled these out and carefully wangled the plate until the mastic gave way. Now the door lock can be seen. It's held in place by a weird ring clamp which is removed by gripping the edge with Mole grips and turning. Ford Ka driver door locks are prone to wearing out but the one which is a direct swap is from the Mark 3 Fiesta. Mine came from a K red Fiesta Ghia 5 door, complete with key,
