Guest godber Posted October 26, 2003 Report Posted October 26, 2003 Hi all, has anybody had any experience renewing the front suspension bushes on a Ford Ka? Is it a DIY job or do you need any special tools so best to leave it to a garage? Any help much appreciated B)
Guest curly Posted November 1, 2003 Report Posted November 1, 2003 Hi I've replaced the bushes on my wifes Ka3 about 3 times now [both sides]! It is a bit of a pain, but is realativley straight forward. The hardest bits are removing and reffiting the bushes, as they seem to be a interferance fit! If you attempt it, make sure you have new bolts for the bushes [as I had to grind the tops off the old ones], and a new pinch bolt for the bottom ball joint!
Guest godber Posted November 1, 2003 Report Posted November 1, 2003 Thanks for the replies. I have managed to replace both lower suspension arms (which include the bushes) and the car went through its MOT. Quite a straight forward job as long as you have the correct hex key socket for the balljoint bolts.
Guest syzmix Posted June 19, 2004 Report Posted June 19, 2004 make sure you change your'e antiroll bar bushes as well or you will end up changing the wishbone bushes again tust me ive done it 4 times both side (1999 40k) but didn't notice the play in the roll bar bushes until the 4th time. changed those and not replaced since.
Guest syzmix Posted August 31, 2005 Report Posted August 31, 2005 well, over twelve months on and not a single problem with lower arms or roll bar bushes. but i have noticed alot of wear on the steering knuckle (probably caused ages ago).
