dt1 Posted November 30, 2006 Author Report Posted November 30, 2006 Oh bother! As I have been trial fitting things I noticed the one gas recirculation pipe has been chaffing. The 'dent' actually bulges on the inside and is nearly warn through. It seems to have been caused by the clamp indicated. I hope another mate can weld stainless (which is what I think the metal is). dt1 Posted December 3, 2006 Author Report Posted December 3, 2006 The job is now done. Thank you for the help in diagnosing the problem and inspiring me to fix it myself. I've had a few 'cold' starts where I have pushed the car without any problems. No error codes on VagCom. I've tried to record many of the challenges on a new site:http://galaxytdi.googlepages.com/turbo1 Thanks again, David. Quote

tim-spam Posted January 22, 2007 Report Posted January 22, 2007 Interesting... i note from the post above that the owner of the golf with a similar problem used two cans before the problem was resolved - Im wondering if your half way there dt1 ? been super busy at work so have not had a go myself yet - but will do in due course scroteAny update? Did Power Boost work on your's? Quote
scrote Posted January 28, 2007 Report Posted January 28, 2007 tim-spam and dt1 sorry for delay - I am a crime scene examiner in Suffolk (it covers Ipswich) so my feet have only just touched the ground after a very busy few months. No have not attacked the bus yet and I am tempted to try and do it properly like dt1 rather than use unknown goo. The problem is no worse and is probably easier to live with in a manual as you can limit the revs until warm. As and when I do have a go (when its warmer) Ill probably try and speak to dt1 for some advice - My mechanical training was done when distributers and points were the norm. dt1 - I presume all is well and the problem has not re-appeared ? brutus Posted March 29, 2009 Report Posted March 29, 2009 "17965 - Charge Pressure Control: Positive Deviation" indicates that the turbo boost pressure is too great - i.e. the vacuum is not beeing dumped quickly enough and/or the vane actuator is not returning to its default off position quickly enough. Often this is the fault of the TCS being dirty or the "atmospheric" connection to the TCS is blocked - there is a small "mini" air filter connected on the end of the "ATM" pipe - it can get blocked. A simple test would be to remove the "ATM" pipe on the TCS and see if its any better. For reference here a few photos of where the TCS is and what is looks like on a MkII Its behind a shroud on the rear bulkhead:- Three pipes are connected - VAC vacuum supply, ATM atmospheric connection, and OUT vane vacuum Close up of a TCS, the ATM connection is the black one.... cant see picks Quote
