Alhambra Posted October 4, 2006 Report Posted October 4, 2006 My wife tells me her Alhambra sometimes "smokes" either early in the morning or if the car has been stopped for a while during the day. The smoke is white <---> grey BUT is not from the engine exhuast pipe. I climbed under the car recently & found a smaller exhaust in front of the LHS rear wheel ... this apparently is where the smoke comes from. What is this small exhaust for? What is the smoke? ... is it the aux heater system? Quote

Dave-G Posted October 5, 2006 Report Posted October 5, 2006 Just dont grab the pipe to feel how warm it is  It will smoke at start-up then clear if all is ok. If it continues to smoke search this forum for booster heater... Get a coffee before you settle down to a darn good informative read - with photo's too :D Here's a sample: http://www.fordgalaxy.org.uk/ford/index.ph...%20heater&st=75 Quote

Guest blatters Posted October 5, 2006 Report Posted October 5, 2006 OK, it's official then............ One swallow doesn't make a summer but the first booster heater query of the season does signal autumn. I'm off to turn the central heating on, check coal level in store and check Halfords for the 3 for 2 offer on de-icer (the flippin Volvo doesn't have quick clear windscreen - how safety conscious is that?). Regards. Blatters. PS. Someone out there somewhere has our old Galaxy and if that person is you..........we're sorry we didn't get the booster heater fixed in the spring before trading it into the dealer. But take comfort from the fact you're not alone :o Oh, and if that person is really you then........ We're really really sorry about the fact you were cooked in the summer 'cos the climate control had failed but, once again, full details of possible cause and fix available on this site. Other than that, a great car you lucky thing. Keep warm. Blatters Quote
