koro Posted October 1, 2006 Report Posted October 1, 2006 Hi,Thanks to the good people of these forums, I was able to find the problem of my Sharan`s windscreen wipers, namely seized... Now my problem...... Refitted, wipers work fine, but I cannot get the same coverage of wipe on the windscren as before, ie the wiper on the drivers side comes short of about 4" at the top of it`s wipe, ..hope you can follow this.. I have readjusted on the splines, but then when turned off they rest a good way up the windscreen. I had marked the windscren with tape so as to replace them in the same position ( although they may not have been the correct position when seized). I marked the plate where the motor fits and re-fited in same place (may have moved on refiting the linkage in vehicle) The passenger wiper is on the spline so as at its bottom wipe it just touches the trim. I cannot figure out what I have done wrong, it must have something to do with the linkage...I am hoping someone here can point out what d...head thing I have done wrong  Quote
mumof4 Posted October 1, 2006 Report Posted October 1, 2006 did you make sure the linkage was in the park position when putting back in?have to be careful doing this! Quote

Thanks for replying, other than refitting in what I thought was the same position I am not sure.. Where is the park position, I am assuming you mean where the linkage fits to the wiper motor? Quote
mumof4 Posted October 1, 2006 Report Posted October 1, 2006 ok..when sorting linkage out it gets moved a bit when it is being unseized..so when you fit it to the car..very very very carefully you have to make sure that the linkage is in the off position..i.e park..when motor etc is connected and before totally refitting the linkage, turn the key in the car so electrics work, if the linkage is out of sync when the stalk is in park it will move back into park position..you must support the linkage when doing this and in a place where you wont get your fingers trapped!..or you could lose them.!
