Remote Ket Synchronisation - Door Led Does Not Re

Recommended Posts

I have a late 99 Galaxy 1.9TDI 110bhp, and need to re-synchronise the remote RF key. I have tried the method described in the handbook ( three turns of the key in the drivers door for 0.5 sec unlock/clockwise etc) many times, but have failed to get any response from the led in the drivers door (the handbook says this should come on to initiate the 20 second re-synch period). I assume that the handbook is correct. the rest of the re-synch procedure fails.

It's not a door led failure since the door lock mechanisms and door led work fine under manual key operation.

Any advice welcome.

I had a similar problem to you in that it would not accept the code.

Firstly you did not mention wheather you pressed the buttons in the correct sequence (holding down the lock button and press the unlock 3 times and release)after turning the key 3 times to unlock as per the handbook.

Secondly have you changed the batteries, if not try changing them.

I resorted to a rather drastic measure, of giving the key a good smacking and it worked only once though which proved to me that it was not the reciever but the key fob, new one

if any consolation it took me nearly three quarters of an hour to get my led to work the first time to re sync the key, ford gave up and wanted it booking in.

also if you try to many times on trot it stops you doing it. just give it a rest then try again. if you dont get the led working theres no point going to final stage.

Thanks to EVSS and Dave for advice.

Yes, I had put new batteries in the RF remote key.

Yes, the key have played up for some time, but the previous owner - my brother- had not bothered to try to re-synch the key.

I shall follow EVSS's advice and keep trying, with coffee breaks, in the hope that the door led will spring to life.
