Guest topcarp2 Posted September 28, 2006 Report Posted September 28, 2006 my gal started to make a noise earlier that sounded like the exhaust had blown but i also lost power and she was runnin rough...anyway got home and could feel air bieng blown from the cover over the plugs and coils ..i removed the cover and one of the coils and all sorts of bits fell apart and the coil come away complete with spark plug...it looks as thought the plug has blown out the head but the threads on the plug dont seem too bad...is this a comon fault and am i lookin at an expensive repair...p.s. anyone know a good mechanic in derbyshire area? strouf Posted September 28, 2006 Report Posted September 28, 2006 It's very unlikely that the spark plug poped out, if it was tighen properly ! Probably it was loose from the beggining. Try spraying (preferably a new plug) with wd40 and see if it can get into place . If it doesn't you need to take cylinder head out ... There are other cheaper and more risky options, like repairing the thread with cyl.head in place and then try to vacuum the aluminum grindings , but this is not recomended... Quote
Guest topcarp2 Posted September 28, 2006 Report Posted September 28, 2006 threads have definately stripped in the cyl head...this is not good news is this sort of repair expensive ? Quote
anadin Posted September 28, 2006 Report Posted September 28, 2006 threads have definately stripped in the cyl head...this is not good news is this sort of repair expensive ? they can heli-coil the stripped thread , best to speak to a head recon specialist Quote
