romseygalaxy Posted September 28, 2006 Report Posted September 28, 2006 good bit of info with the part number great :o My tailgate boots are going 'south'. The wires insdie are also starting to crack etc. As the boot is in one piece, how go you replace it?. Do you have to strip down the tailgate and remove the wiring to thread through the new boot? Vanbursta Posted September 28, 2006 Report Posted September 28, 2006 Yes, you remove the rear pillar trim and the tailgate upper trim, cut the wires and splice in a new section in between. I went to a local autosound place and bought 1 metre of 11 different coloured wires (6 are thin and 6 are thick) for the sum of a fiver, then spent a relaxing afternoon soldering and splicing the new wires in. Do one end, feed the new wires through the new boot / bodywork, then solder the other end. easy! Quote
