Woohoo! Sailed through.

Just 2 cautionaries:

Rear tyre tread both only 3 mm (knew that anyway)

Rear brake pipes showing slight sign of corrosion starting.

I'm guessing that a good rub down with a wire brush and coppergreasing will help prevent the corrosion going any further? Any other ideas for this?

Was also discussing my squealing starter motor with the mechanic and he suggested it might be possible to slowly drill through the bellhousing with 4mm drill bit and then get the WD40 straw through and give it a good squirting instead of removing the starter. Anyone ever done this? What are the pros and cons to this instead of removing and overhauling the starter?

^_^ lucky bugga

re pipes, may be o.k for this year, with a rub down & greace, replace next

re; starter, wd40 is only a temp fix is it worth the hassle of drilling , you can get them reconditioned yourself , or exchanged at local motor factors

As regards the brake pipes, first thing to do is to check whether any corrosion is actually there (it may just be a little oxidised zinc, which is absolutely nothing to worry about). If it is, and it's only just starting, brush lightly and spray some Waxoyl on, and then check every year - should last for years.
