Guest bigal Posted September 27, 2006 Report Posted September 27, 2006 Hi all I am getting an annoying squeak from engine bay. Sometimes its there and others not. It does it when the car is stationery and on the move. Could it be one of the belts. I tried putting Wd40 on the alternator shaft and it went away for a while. Tried a gain with no effect. Seems to be coming from that sort of area. Anyone any ideas? Cheers Alex Quote

Guest bigal Posted September 27, 2006 Report Posted September 27, 2006 B) Wish it was a mouse. No doubt it wont be anything cheap. i think i'll wait until something breaks completely this time until i get it fixed, it might be covered by the warranty then. Quote
NikpV Posted September 27, 2006 Report Posted September 27, 2006 :D No doubt it wont be anything cheap. sounds more like a budgie to me sorry I resisted the impulse when I first saw the post (in technical) but now ..... Quote
westie Posted September 27, 2006 Report Posted September 27, 2006 My money is on the alternator belt tensioner being the issue. Fairly common for the bearing on these to go and squirting wd40 in this direction will make it go quiet for a while. Quote
