V6 Engine

The engine in my V6 Galaxy needs replacing and I been quoted

I thought the later gals used a vw vr6 engine - without knowing any of the car details it would be difficult to help ^_^

The car is a 1997 p reg galaxy ghia x 2.8 v6

yes wood73 - used an engine from a Golf his galaxy was a 1996 galaxy glx 2.8v6

yes it was a golf vr6 engine, dont think ford engines will fit with it being essentially a vw apart from the 2.3, i would imagine they would use different gearboxes etc.

The V6 is definately a VW lump, the 2.3 is a ford (although I dont know which cars - if any - it was fitted to)and based on the 2.0 unit which is basically a sierra twin cam unit.

the 2.3 is the same unit that was fitted to the later granada's IIRC they also fitted them to sierra's.

Didnt know about the sierras, thought the only 2.3 sierra was the old Diesel lump

 

I know im going off topic here, but i wonder what ford were thinking of when they fitted the old sierra 2litre unit that i think was based on the 2.0 pinto from the seventies instead of the zetec motor?

Please may I suggest that you DO NOT USE the "mechanic" who told you you could fit the cologne 2.8 V6 to your Galaxy, since he has plainly never even looked under the bonnet of one before!

 

You need a distributorless 12 valve VW VR6 engine for your Gal. Any will do.

They made a 2.3 V6 on the Mk 1 Sierra, I know I had a A reg, but I'm sure its not the same.

Gals have a 2.3 4 pot or 2.8 V6.

 

2.3 V6 was never an option.
