boomerang Posted September 25, 2006 Report Posted September 25, 2006 1999 fore focus diesel estate endura engine As I was driving allong at about 35mph the engine suddenly shut down and the heater light staeted to flash. I pulled over and after a few minutes tried starting. The engine fired up but only ran for a few seconds and stopped. After another period of time I tried again and this time the engine started but ran for an even shorter time. I had the vehicle towed to a ford dealership and they put the car on the computer and informed that the diesel injection pump needed replaceing at a cost of Quote
NikpV Posted September 25, 2006 Report Posted September 25, 2006 The engine fired up but only ran for a few seconds and stopped on the gal this is typical of an immobiliser problem if you have a spare key - take it with you and try it - will not help if its an immobiliser circuit problem but might if its key/chip related ^_^ Quote

Smilge Posted January 16, 2007 Report Posted January 16, 2007 i'd have changed the fuel cut off solenoid first , but they should be telling the truth , shouldn't they :P :P if in doubt get a second opinion  Thanks for feedback Have changed the diesel pump vehicle will still not start!! The Mondeo TDCI had a very similar problem when it first came out; flashing glow plug heater lamp and the car wouldnt start or run. It turned out to be a batch of injection pumps where the roller bearings were breaking up and contaminating the fuel. Although they replaced the pumps, the problem continues and can be caused by contaminated fuel ..... the most likely cause is water. This doesnt surprise me considering the weather we have had lately and if the fuel filter isnt changed as often as it should, this could be the cause of your problem. I assume with the age of your car that the diesel injection pump is similar to that of the TDCI even though your engine is an Endura .... perhaps someone could confirm this. Anyway hope you get it sorted soon. Chris Quote
Guest Darren Jones Posted January 17, 2007 Report Posted January 17, 2007 My Courier Van (W reg) has this TDDi engine, with the same problem.. Fault codes P0149 , P1564 , P1664 .. The mobile mechanic reckons a new diesel pump is needed.....?? Anyone know if this sounds feasible? Quote
