Guest yzfr1boy Posted September 25, 2006 Report Posted September 25, 2006 yer had liner out and pipes all attached ok no smell of fuel around that area :D still honking inside Quote
MrT Posted September 26, 2006 Report Posted September 26, 2006 Had the same problem on a Fiesta and it turned out to be the O-ring inside the works of the petrol cap (not the rubber seal where it closes on the filler pipe). The cap has a moving plunger inside like a safety valve to release pressure and the O ring had perished and was sticking. Quote
Guest yzfr1boy Posted September 27, 2006 Report Posted September 27, 2006 had the rear liner out today and all looks ok stripped carpet out and looked at the tank unit and pipes all seems ok in there slight smell around filler neck when liner removed might try a new top tomorrow cheers fingers crossed cause cant find a fault anywhere,, any more ides folks?? chromedome Posted September 29, 2006 Report Posted September 29, 2006 I had a problem like this on one of my other Galaxys. The dealer sorted it. It had to have a new filler assembly as some valve within the assembly had failed allowing fumes into the cabin. I don't know if the filler assembly can be stripped down as mine was replaced under warranty. Maybe someone else can give more information. Quote
soptom Posted September 29, 2006 Report Posted September 29, 2006 Try tapping the purge valve mounted on the bulkhead, ours had stuck. Quote
El Dingo Posted September 29, 2006 Report Posted September 29, 2006 Is the carbon canister split? Or maybe the breather pipes are broken or split where they go back into the engine bay? These are very hard to locate without removing the air filter box. Just some ideas... Quote
Guest yzfr1boy Posted September 30, 2006 Report Posted September 30, 2006 alll the pipes are ok stripped half the car out to check them seems like it its in the filler neck pipe area at the rear had airfilter off and carbon canister and checked the valve on bulkhead seems to all be ok but smell persits bloody petrol bus looks like i need a tdi  Quote
