Great idea tho, lets get the men to post their macho poses next to their Gals!!!....

Da daaaaa

i think the tyre idea is good.

i know what your saying about the models changing ford being all ford, and VW being all VW etc.

but then i thought -- would ford be interested in what people think of the competition?

the idea of regional business (not direct ford) could aslo be worth while - but no doubt they would want there names on any banners?

MJR

:D So tell me, is that your everyday wear or just the saturday night bird pulling suit???

I know that when I approached mytyres.co.uk they said that they ran an affiliate scheme that would earn the site money for each purchasing customer referral that came through their adverts. We wouldn't be able to have the 3% discount as well, but it might be worth losing that to benefit the community as a whole with some kind of income from them when people buy tyres?

Let me know and I'll be able to swap the 3% discount for the affiliate scheme quite easily with them.

If everyone is in agreement, I think loosing the discount for an income is a good idea to start the funding.

Apologies for the long post, but here are the details for the affiliate scheme with mytyres.co.uk:

Dear Paul,

David Black, Head of our UK operations was so kind to pass me your

contact details.

It is regarding a possible discount scheme for the members of your car club.

Whereas I cannot offer you direct discounts for your car club, I would

like to suggest the following.

Just a little while ago, we launched our UK affiliate program with Zanox, Europe

I think you need to look into this more carefully - There are lots or rules and regulations around clubs and the collection and earning of money. You will need to be set up in some way to avoid the legal issues. You may, to avoid any liability , need to set up as a Limited Company. I don't want to dampen your enthusiasm but you can't just go raound collecting money as it is. You will need to do some research into how best to construct the club if it is to earn and disburse monies. Another issue you have to be aware of in arranging events is that someone may find themselves liable in the event of any kind of injury or ngeligence claim.

By all means organise events - but don't take money - don't take responsbility or open yourselves up to any kind of liability.

Will ask my Dad for advice on this as he's a committee member for a Ten Pin Bowling league for the Blind (yes it's possible! there are a few members that bowl for England in the Blind Bowling international tournaments!) There are many accounts that can be opened for clubs/associations with all high streets banks but depends whether we want to go down that route or not?!?

At the shows, would it be possible to allow people to test drive the galaxy, at a small charge?

I think you've all lost the point of this forum - it is a FREE, easy to join place where Shalaxy owners can share knowledge and chat about things. The minute it become commercially obsessed then its the end as far as I am concerned.......

No, i have not lost the point of the forum, it is free and will stay that way, No one is commercially obsessed on here as far as i know..all we need is funds to pay for banners etcc that can be displayed at shows, meets.

I do know that having to pay for info like bringing in membership fees will be the death of this place..that will not happen nor will it ever happen.

Difficulty with all of this fundraising lark is that companies will give you a cheque, not cash, and will be reluctant to pay 3rd parties direct for things we require. In order to raise any funds for things we need, the club will need a bank account in it's name. The bank account will need signatories. The account administration will need a treasurer. To appoint a treasurer you will need a committee. The committee will need to be appointed by member's vote. Member's vote will have to be completely annonymous for it to be qualifying.

A lot to sort out? Yes.

btw I can get a 6'x2' banner printed in full colour for

Again I think Seatkid has a good point ( I don't usually agree with everything he says!)

This is a web site with a web based membership - all this si taking the site to a different plane - not at all what it has been before. It is beginning to feel like this is going to hatch or metamorphise into a completely different animal.

Slow down take stock of what and where you are and think carefully before you move on. This Club is TOTALLY VIRTUAL at the moment - it only exists in the ether and on your PC's what you are doing is going to another place not all where this one is.

I can see BJ's and SK's points although I don't think their conclusions are foregone there is room for both the virtual and the real here.

BTW I keep trying to get to one of these meets aaginst the tide of total disinterest and family commitment take the reading meet for example - galaxy99 named a time and place I start manoevering things so I can get there and the next thing its moved to a time I can't make :)

i'm getting a bit confused these are excellent points, and agree the forum needs to remain free and easy for all, which i believe it will, i was under the impression its the owners club side of things that we are trying to build upon, with meets, fun days ect , in turn promote the forum to new members, the forum would of course remain donation only

 i agree with anadin on this, nothing will change,

nothing wrong with idea,s and moving forward

and the forum will still be here

keep up the good work :)

Yes the site will remain - and Yes you can do all the things you want - but the two need to be separate - What you all need and want appears to be something completely different from what we have - If the stats are to be believed we have in excess of 4000 members - but we appear to have around 8-10 members who want something different - and without any kind of agreement beyond that of those running it, no mandate to make this great leap forward.

I enjoy this site tremendously - but I will be taking a back seat from now and will only post when and if I need help or can offer it. I really like the characters I have "met" on here - but I do not want to meet anyone or change the relationship beyond what is it.

That's just me.

We seem to be emulating the current political climate where the interest group and the minority are running the whole show their way and assuming a no vote is a Yes.

It's been very good.

Speaking purely for myself, I hope that this site doesn't change at all. It's great that it's free, it's great that there are so many helpful members willing to give their time and expertise (and comedy) to keep it what it is. I don't see any reason though why the so called minority can't seperately develop a non-virtual side to this forum without making an adverse affect to how the forum is at the moment.

Those that want to get involved, get involved. Those that don't, carry on as normal. Each to their own, horses for courses, everybody's happy at the level that they want to get involved at. I don't want to see anyone feel "pushed out" by any add-ons to normal service that some members may want.

Bloody hell..what happened here this eve?

Bigj..dont you dare take a back seat.....

Surely the members that want to meet can?I dont think this place should or will change, we will just have peeps who wish to meet and exchange info/help each other...

I have no wish to upset people, drive people away or anything..if you have a problem with any of this..then please as you have done sso..say.

I know that not everyone wants to do this..fair enough..i have no probs with that at all..i have no wish to change this site...I love it the way it is.

yes this site is virtual...but why cant those that want to meet up...do so?

I did not realise the extent that all this has gone to would happen so quick..it has taken me by surprise and has shocked me...You may find that hard to believe but it has.

In regards to galaxy 99 arranging a meet..i agree once a date is set and a place is arranged that is suitable FOR ALL THAT WISH TO ATTEND.. then it should not be changed.

i also agree with (h and mo4)

there is no need for nothing to change

things wil carry on as there are, with us all giving help when and where we can :)

for those of us that wants a oc,and to have meets etc.i belive that

s what a owners club is all about

but at the same time if peeps dont wish to go down that route,no ones is saying they have to..
