Joey Posted September 20, 2006 Report Posted September 20, 2006 Hi everyone. I've just purchased an R plate 4x4 V6 Ghia X Auto and the cruise control isn't working. I've read the other posts about it and when I checked the pipe behind the indicator it was perished but the other prob I have is that the other end of the pipe has come off :) . Could one of you please help as I can't see where it should connect up to and a photo would really help. Thanks in advance, Joe Quote
tiny Posted September 21, 2006 Report Posted September 21, 2006 "I've just purchased an R plate 4x4 V6 Ghia X Auto" Will you need cruise control between fuel stations? Sorry, can't help, just couldn't resist a joke! Good luck with the problem though...You've come to the right place! Quote

Cheers Steve, This is the hose i'm talking about but I need to know where the other end should be connected. http://i78.photobucket.com/albums/j88/joeyv6/CCPump.jpg From what I can see in my engine bay it should connect up by the battery tray but can't see any obvious connections. Steve S. Posted September 22, 2006 Report Posted September 22, 2006 Hi, Well, the other end (of the rubber hose) is connected to a semi rigid white plastic pipe (slide on fit)the end of which is just under the front lhs corner of the battery tray in turn under a bunch of wires. you may need to move things to get to it. Now where it goes after that , I don't know, possibly the pedal area or there is a relay behind the middle of the dash somewhere. I believe that Vanbursta has delved this far he may be able to help some more. Regards Steve S. Quote

Look's like i'll be taking out the battery and tray later. Cheers Joe Quote
Steve S. Posted September 22, 2006 Report Posted September 22, 2006 Hi Joe, Glad to be of some use! I don't think you need to take the tray or battery out however, things are a bit hazy but I seem to remember access was easier by removing the headlight and front grill but it is possible without. The actual junction is just inboard of a grommet hole in the inner wing and it's just fiddly to get at. My cruise has stopped working even after replacing the said rubber hose with a new length. Before that it worked intermittantly sometimes after driving over a rut in the road or starting off again after say a stop for petrol! Now I don't know whether I used the wrong type of hose or whether the whole system has died! I can here the relay clicking behind the dash but thats as far as it goes.I've checked the vacuum pump and that seems to work off the car but its difficult to know whether it's sucking enough! I've given up for the moment with it but always read the "cruise control " posts for renewed inspiration!!! Anyway, good luck with it. Steve S. Quote

Joey Posted September 22, 2006 Author Report Posted September 22, 2006 DON'T REMOVE THE BATTERY TRAY, IT SUPPORTS THE ENGINE/GEARBOX. Thanks for that mate, could off ended up with it all on the floor. Will go with steve's way as that sounds easier and is obviously a lot safer. Will let you know how I get on. Joe Quote
