dave2 Posted October 21, 2003 Report Posted October 21, 2003 Sorry to drag this subject up again but the wifes finally put her knee through the speaker grill. What I want to know is can I remove it without removing the whole door panel. Does it just prise off or is it secured from the inside ? Quote
dave2 Posted October 21, 2003 Author Report Posted October 21, 2003 Thanks for reply FredtMine are beige so hopfully should be OKDo they just prise off with a screwdriver or is there something else holding them on. Quote
Tigger Posted October 22, 2003 Report Posted October 22, 2003 Yep had the same problem with the kids and mine. Have had to replace twice since I have had the car. There is a spline on mine that s longer than the rest and this locates in a slot in the panal. I used clear silcon out of a tube and taped them until dry. This was so it is easy to get off again as it peals. Because they will have to be replaced again!!!!!!!!! Also gives more time to position them. TIG Quote
Guest sparticus1967 Posted October 23, 2003 Report Posted October 23, 2003 :D Hi There just a quick note if you do need blue covers there are still some about i have found some at Dovercourt Ford In Essex. And yes they are a pain :D Quote
Eddie Posted October 24, 2003 Report Posted October 24, 2003 If you look at the new grill you will see there are a number of “legs” that point in to the Door, Ford fit these by pushing the grills in to place and then melting the legs to hold them in place. This would of course require you to remove the door panel. There is a previous post which suggests heating the legs with a soldering iron so they are spayed out at about 40 degrees from vertical and then bending the grill in to place. This is a lot easier to do than explain and it worked very well for me. To remove the old Grill just break it, It will be held in place by the melted plastic legs but this is not difficult to do.Eddie. Quote
Denis Posted October 25, 2003 Report Posted October 25, 2003 I have replaced my grilles with matt black metal ones from cpc.co.uk. They are very slightly oversize (diameter) and stand a little more proud than the originals. I secured tham with silicone sealant. Look fine and I don't think the kid's will ever manage to break them! Quote

Guest sugarfairie Posted October 27, 2003 Report Posted October 27, 2003 Did you manage to get the code Denis ?Anna. B) Quote
Denis Posted October 27, 2003 Report Posted October 27, 2003 Anna, I used order code LS0016766. To fit them I first had to remove all traces of the old plastic grille, then I siliconed the 'inner' to the door, when dry just pushed on the 'outer'. Hope this helps. Quote
