NikpV Posted September 20, 2006 Report Posted September 20, 2006 IIRC you can fit the unit but you won't get direction from the little screen between the tacho and speedo unless its included in the auction ??? Quote

oscargps9 Posted September 21, 2006 Report Posted September 21, 2006 HiI fitted a MFD unit as a retro fit and it works fine. Took a bit of setting up though as it runs on a gps plug in aeriel - slot in back of unit for this. Some things to note though.1. You need a totally new bezel for unit to sit in, current one is too small a gap. Its available from Frauds parts about Quote

Guest Warren Posted December 29, 2006 Report Posted December 29, 2006 Hi, I've just installed a DX-MFD in my 2001 Galaxy. As per all other installs I've read up on I had the usual messing arround with power leads (unit on all the time etc) but overcome those issues pretty fast. Everything fires up ok but my position wont update on the moving map (or lack of moving map I should say)... but when I go into GPS info, the coordinates are changing all the time with the unit logged onto 6 satelites (so I know the signal is ok). I have not connected the gala cable which I presume (and hope is the problem). I do not have a purple wire on my galaxy but did find another post which said it was a thin red wire (which I do have and it is connected to the correct pole on the power connector - so I'm presuming that this is ok). I tapped another wire into this feed to connect it to my 26 way connector on pin 5 as mensioned so many other times... but oops... pin 5 on my 26-way is labelled as DFA_L - I tried it but it does not work anyway. I also have pins 13 & 26 which are labelled CAN/L and CAN/H.... Does anyone know how I can get a speed pulse into the MFD and what, where and how should it be connected??? Any help would be so much apreciated. Thanks, Warren. HiI fitted a MFD unit as a retro fit and it works fine. Guest Warren Posted December 30, 2006 Report Posted December 30, 2006 Hi Steve, You are a star!! Ford Galaxy 2001/2.3 VTEC Manual/Petrol/ Nav-Unit is a 2002 Build DX.I Managed to find the setup menu and adjusted the wheel size and brought the blips down from 45 to 8 (guess the unit was on CAN/LH b4). Took a spin and at last the map started to move with me - but the actual location is still miles off - even after a 15 mile drive it had still not calibrated itself - so I'm guessing that the gala is still not correct. I could do with tapping direct into the loom if you could find the info I need and let me know which sensor plug I need to chop into?? I also need the following items if you can help.. 1) Up to date CD Map (As mine is 2004)2) AV input cable for my DVD Player3) Line out connector so I can attach an amp & sub Thanks SteveWarren@Studio1-London.co.uk hi warren i fit these as a living so should be able to help but need year and engine type and size so year of manupetrol/ dieselauto /manual regards steve Quote
