jkspoff Posted September 19, 2006 Report Posted September 19, 2006 I have noticed that a few people on here have mentioned that they have engine covers on their Tdi Mk2 Galaxys, but mine has never had any type of engine cover. It is just an exposed engine when you lift the bonnet up, with all the dirty technical bits on show. Should mine have a cover over it ? Whats the cover for ? Is it just asthetic ? Quote
mumof4 Posted September 19, 2006 Report Posted September 19, 2006 Yup..mine has a cover on it....might be a pic of it sum where on one of me posts..,,just off to search... Quote
NikpV Posted September 19, 2006 Report Posted September 19, 2006 yes - lined with some sound-proofing material Quote
jkspoff Posted September 19, 2006 Author Report Posted September 19, 2006 Thanks mumof4, a pic would be good to compare with what I'm missing on my naked engine ! Anyone any idea how much they cost and how they fit on ? Quote
AndeeeH Posted September 19, 2006 Report Posted September 19, 2006 Dont know about the price but IIRC they push fit onto some of the pipe work. On my Mk2 Tdi there was an orange/yellow collar at the front for the dip stick to fit through. The dipstick had a small plastic pointer on it that fitted into a triangular recess in the collar. :) Andy. Quote
mumof4 Posted September 19, 2006 Report Posted September 19, 2006 Will post a pic in the morn for you. Quote
Dave-G Posted September 20, 2006 Report Posted September 20, 2006 All you are missing out on is a tad of noise insulation, and an uncluttered sight when you lift the bonnet. Off-set that with easier access to inspect and service the odd item. And some fraud trainee mechanics won't know what engine you have :D OMG - someones took mine :) http://www.fordgalaxy.org.uk/ford/uploads/post-647-1155143365.jpg Quote

It protects the engine pulleys from water spray, which can cause momentary loss of power steering... :D Quote
jkspoff Posted September 20, 2006 Author Report Posted September 20, 2006 I have the engine tray fitted, made sure of that, I will phone Ford tomorrow and find out how much it'll rob me for the engine cover, if its a lot then it will stay without like the last 3 years. Quote
