Guest james120479 Posted October 27, 2006 Report Posted October 27, 2006 Cheers Bleeno, i just wish i could stop worrying about it. I used to like driving this car but i hate it now :D Do you think too much oil could cause this? The reason i ask is the first service i put it in not long after i bought it. some clown put quite alot of too much oil in and i didn't realise for about 4 weeks before i got it drained Quote

Like myself and Anadin said, either take it back and express your worry about the car without being unpleasant and although the guy originally told you that " it takes time for the oil too get around the engine", just say you have a mate who's got the same type of car with a similar mileage and his doesn't rattle on start up. Stick to your guns m8 and if they'e reasonable they should do something about it. After that and still no joy ..... time to write letters. Keep in touch m8 Quote
Guest mos81 Posted October 30, 2006 Report Posted October 30, 2006 I have exactly the same rattle when I start up it just takes a couple of turns of the engine and then it goes, i'm thinking its just something thats loose, a cover or gaurd that resonates at startup, but going on my previous mechanical knowledge I wouldn't bet on it. Keep us informed of what you find out though as if it something serious maybe i should consider getting it looked at. Mechmos Quote
Guest james120479 Posted February 27, 2007 Report Posted February 27, 2007 Just wanted to post a quick update in case anyone else has similar problems. I finally decided to pay Ford to have a look to see if they could see what may be causing it. They do in my case believe that it is piston slap although very slight, they admit it is very uncommon on this engine expecially at the mileage it is at, but don't believe i should i worry about it... just to keep an eye on the oil, make sure it doesn't lose / burn any which at the moment it isn't. I was kinda hoping it was something that can be fixed but hey ho... i'll have to be extra careful when the car is cold Cheers for all your help Quote
