welllllll, they claim it increases power and all that jazz, but when iv looked at "power charts" the power increase is only noticable at the higher end of the rev range, and the increase is only marginal.

if your filter needs replacing anyway, then i would be tempted, otherwise, not really.

K&N Filters use an oiled gauze for filtration. Over time that oil could end up destroying your MAF sensor.

Better to go for a cotton or foam filter (e.g. Jetex) if you want that kind of thing.

Hi

would this help my power & increase horsepower and acceleration

as i am towing a caravan ?

see link K&N

Yep BUT, I'm sure you can get e' cheaper, in addition the KN filters are pre-oiled and this can be bad news for the MAF.

I believe the 'Green' filters are better.

You won't get a big increase tho' bit more driveability, combine it with a remap however......115 bhp to approx 150

if you want to increase your power, then either re-map it, or buy one of those speed buster things - they cost about

however, be warned - if you have an Automatic, i would not increase the engines power - as the gearbox is not rated to handle it.

Is it a significantly different auto box to that on the 204bhp 2.8?

...I thought we'd already sorted out the 'Grenade' autobox issue!

Pay attention in class Matt, design a new expert system - yours isn't working. :D

sorry uv lost me...

my dad was told by ALL the techys on this forum, that the gearbox on an Automatic 1.9TDI galaxy, could not handle much more over than what the engine produces. this is why u cannot get auto on the more powerful diesel engines.

of course - they could be wrong?

I don't think it is a power issue as the V6 has nearly twice as much as some diesels, but it could be a torque issue on the input to the gearbox where the increased torque could damage the box.

Tim - you are correct, the Jatco is rated at 325 nm... But running it so close to the limit isn't healthy..

Mike

All the info is in this thread.

A few posts in there from Marcus Heawood, I wonder what happened to him?

 Pop goes the weasel

the 1.9TDI already pumps out 310NM - only 15 to go.
