Get someone to do a VAG-COM diagnostics check on the gearbox. I would suspect the solenoids in the valve body at the front of the box.

I have a 2002 1.9TDI Galaxy automatic. When cold she wont go into reverse. Gear lever moves to reverse OK and reverse lights go on but car doesnt engage and move backwards. After running for 5 to 10 mins or when warm reverse is fine. I have just checked the gearboox oil level and it appears to be OK. So I too would like any suggestions. Occasionally she seems to take her time selecting top gear. This may be relevant? I take it brake pedal or switch would prevent gear selector lever moving. So my fault must be either the connecting cables or the box itself? Thanks
