  1. Mike, I never noticed that yours was an auto!! Mine is a manual and the current code is 00421. Is it safe enough to adjust these and see what happens?? i.e. I assume your second 1 is for auto so if that is the case will 30421 work - will have to try it!! Andy
  2. Mike It is a facelift model. What is confusing is the original code is different from yours even tho they are both facelift zetecs. Oh well - might not be able to have the trip after all :( Andy
  3. I have had a go at recoding the instrument cluster on my 2000 Gal and it wont accept the code 13421. My original code is 00421 and it will accept 01421 with no obvious difference. GSMGuy - I notice your gal is younger than mine - do you know if they changed the cluster in the first few years hence mine wont accept that code. Dissapointing as I was looking forward to adding the trip comp as I have already fitted the cruise!! Any ideas??
  4. I was charged
  5. I eventually bought a genuine serial / dongle lead from Ross-Tech in USA (Serial Hex think it was!). I decided to get it from there as for the same price as UK I got a dongle version(no registration) instead of a lead that required VAG-COM to be registered.(Cant comment on the cheap leads??) I bought it originally to enable cruise control after I fitted the cruise stalk. I did have a problem with connecting to the car with my laptop (ended up borrowing one to start with??) but the latest release of VAG-COM cured the problem. Since using it I have found a few problems which I have managed to cure (alarm horn not working - lead was unplugged on the horn!!). I did not realise it was not working but running the output tests revealed this. A couple of intermittant probs showed up but have not reappeared since clearing the codes. I think over the time I intend having a galaxy the lead will more than pay for itself. One thing to watch tho if ordering from the USA - I could not fault delivery - 3 days in all but 2 weeks later ended up with a bill from Fed-Ex for the import tax :( All in all very pleased. GSMGuy - The trip computer sounds interesting - is it an easy job?? Andy
  6. I am wanting to fit a towbar to my galaxy. I am going to order the towbar from Towsure but I was going to purchase the wiring kit from Ford. I have enquired with the dealer how much the kits are and was quoted
  7. Thanks for the long description. I have been to the dealers and ordered all the parts you described - the dealer was most helpful and identified all the components you listed. The parts will arrive wed or thurs next week and I am going to tackle it the following weekend. I will let you know how I get on. Andy
  8. I am very interested to find out how you managed to fit the cover. I have one standing in my hallway I got off ebay a couple of weeks ago but havn't ventured into the car yet!! I need to go to the dealer to order the parts yet - what parts did you require?? I realise that the panels need to come off and be cut but it is interesting that you say they are marked behind?? Look forward to your reply. Andy
  9. Thanks for the pointers Ivor, I checked the boot and bonnet switches and discovered the striker plate for the bonnet switch was bent and not pressing the switch. I can only assume it was bent when it was at the Ford dealers last week when they renewed a trim panel below the windscreen, although I cant see how, unless they had the bonnet off. I straightened the striker and it worked properly on the first press of the remote!! Thanks again. Andy
  10. Hi I have discovered that when I operate the remote locking that the indicators no longer flash on lock. They still flash twice on unlock tho. The red LED flashes every second or so in the drivers door. Can anyone shed any light on how the system should work ie does no flash indicate a fault in the locking somewhere?? The car is a 2000 Zetec TDi (facelift). Thanks Andy
  11. Hi, Further to my original post, has anyone got this version of sat nav fitted?? I believe they were fitted to galaxys but dont know if these are the later version?? Can anyone help?? Cheers Andy
  12. Hi, I know sat nav has been covered many a time, but I can't seem to find the answer to this one on the search page. Will a blaupunkt RNS 2 fit in a facelift galaxy?? The screen looks a lot smaller than on pictures of other units that I have seen. Is it a newish system and will it play cd's, although I know it is changer compatible?? I am unsure exactly what models will fit as there seems to be so many available out of other fords. Hope someone can shed some light on this for me. Thanks Andy
  13. Thanks for the replys. I havn't picked the car up yet but from what I remember it has the 6000 CD fitted. There doesnt appear to be sat nav of any type fitted although this aerial is on the roof. Hope I can get to the bottom of this one way or another. Andy <_<
  14. Thanks for the replies. In looking around this site I gathered that the radio aerial is on the OSR window - sort of triangular shape thin elements - which the car does have. The dealer wasn't very helpful about the other aerial. Could it be from a factory fit sat nav which has now been removed??? How can I tell if this is the case?? Andy
  15. I have just bought a 2000 'X' 1.9TDi Zetec Galaxy. It is the new shape. I take delivery of it next week. I have been doing some reading on the internet and have come to the conclusion that it should have a CD multichanger as standard. The car however is fitted with a single slot CD. Does anyone know if this is correct or does it depend on what was ordered when the car was new. The car also has an aerial mounted on the rear of the roof in the middle. It is a round plastic shape with a rectangular piece on the side?? What is the purpose of this aerial?? Great site by the way and I will be frequently popping back to see how everyone else's galaxy's are going. Thanks for any help. Andy
