Hi all, my name is John and I would like some help with my car problem if possible. I have owned my Seat Alhambra 1.9 TDI SE Auto for about 3 years now and it has been a reliable and one of the best cars I have owned. Today I was on the school run, dropped my first child off and pulled away and I could smell a diesel exhaust fume type smell. As I drove along the smell was getting worse so I thought it cant be outside it must be my car. Got a bit further down the road near to the second chid's school, the sun came out, through the windows of the car and this highlighted the fact that smoke was in the car! Thought the car was possibly on fire and stopped the car and turned the engine off to investigate. The exhaust is fine no holes etc, and on opening the bonnet didi'nt reveal any smoke coming out. I have read a few posts on the forums and they mention about the booster heat having some problems with glow plugs and white smoke coming out etc.. I haven't experienced and problems with the booster heater in the past, could this be causing my problem? One thing I will say is if the booster heater is the problem then I cant understand how the fumes would get into the car?! The door seals are all ok and the windows on the near side were closed. The temperature when I first set out on the school run was 8 degrees and I had travelled 8 miles before I dropped off my first child at school and noticed the smell for the first time. Any ideas would be much appreciated please. Many thanks John
