bazzoh replied to bingo nightly's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
exactly the same as the original engine in mine! chain tensioner gone, destroyed itself into many pieces and then bang - new engine time! i took some pictures of the engine bay minus engine (very roomy!) and the damage but they're not the best..as soon as i find my bluetooth for my laptop i'll put them up! baz -

Hi finally re-engined the V6 after the original went a bit wrong! ;) now, need to get a replacement exhaust centre box for it as this one seems to be leaking a bit! outside my house is my 2.0 galaxy (oil light came on whilst driving and ...well its a long story!). Now, will the centre box off the 2.0 go on the v6 so i can get it through the mot? any help would be great! ta! Baz

Hello! further to my last post ("moving on"), we were trying to start the car (2.8 V6 mk1) ..then there was a clunk...then nothing! Now turning the crank nut, itll turn one full turn in either direction before stopping solid. A friend has suggested that it sounds like the cam chain has snapped or jumped and that its most likely a valve stopping the engine. Ive just read on here that the cam chain is on the gearbox side of the engine? and that its a box out job to sort. Has anyone had to deal with this sort of job? is "head off" do-able with the engine in situ? or is it just worth getting a second hand engine and changing it over - is it do-able with axle stands and crane (ie an amateur!) any help would be gratefully received - am dying to get it on the road and play! kindest! Hi the guy ive bought it off has replaced the coil pack already (nice of him!) - ive got it back home now (or my dads anyway) and ill go and have a good nose around it and try the bits you've suggested - thanks! regarding the vag com, i think its wise to buy one anyway so ill be doing that - am jsut getting impatient because i wana play! ill keep you informed! Baz

Ta for that - i'll give them a go! The guy said he was told it was an ecu fault but i wasn't convince - i was thinking could it be the throttle position sensor? Baz

Hi for some years now ive run a mark 1, 2.0 basic ford galaxy. Now, ive just invested in a 2.8 v6 (bit of a difference!) but still a mk1. This new one is the Ghia X version with all bells n whistles - looks good! Now, ive purchased it as spares repairs because apparantly the car starts but wont rev (anyone with any ideas?). Failing that, any Ford Galaxy experts in the Wirral area want to come and help me with some looking over advice? i can promise at least a cuppa! I am a bit sad about the old mk1 as it appears it is one of the early ones constructed between 94-95 - preservation surely! but hey ho! thanks in advance Baz

Revs Taking Time To Drop Back Down
bazzoh replied to bazzoh's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
hi! nah dont think its that as it does drive normally, but when you stop and put it in neutral or even dip the clutch, the revs rise but then sloooooooowly fall ta! baz -
Revs Taking Time To Drop Back Down

Hi no aint got cruise control am afraid! ill throw it on my uncles reader this week and say what it says - as said its wierd especially given that the revs do come back down in stages...eventualy! dont know if its related but whatever it is that sounds like a hoover on startup(!) is sounding very wierd at the moment - hard to describe but sounds more like a drill or something! baz -
Revs Taking Time To Drop Back Down

Hi I have an N reg 2.0 galaxy. The other day all was fine, but when i started the engine again, whatever revs the engine was at when it was driving, it stuck at when clutch depressed. At first thought "sticky accelerator" but the revs do come down - in stages but take about 5 mins to go back down to normal idle speed (about 800-900rpm?). Ive been told it could be the air mass sensor - anyone have any ideas? thanks in advance! baz -
hello! just spoke to auto spark and an ex ford mechanic - they both said the same thing - micro switch inside the central locking unit (o/s door). hope this helps anyone who gets the same problems! Baz
-
yup its started again! i had a look at the wiring, there was no obvious signs of cracked sleeves nor no obvious cracking. Just as a n extra, is one side in charge of the other if you know what i mean! the only reason i ask is that it seems to always be the n/s window going down first, but i would have thought the o/s controls both? baz
-
hi ive just had a look there, there doesnt appear to be any problems (not easy to spot though!), i had to disconnect the battery because the window regulator (??) was clicking away and gettting very hot!. Anyway, I put everything back together and it appears to be fine (for now at least) ill keep an eye on it but if theres anyone else whos had the same problem id love hear from you incase it does start again! ta! baz

Hello! i own/run an antique (N reg) mk1 galaxy, 2.0 petrol. Today, as soon as I pulled the keys out of the ignition, the n/s window started lowering itself - it wasnt smooth but juddered all the way down - followed shortly by the drivers window! I though "freak" until i got home. This time the same thing happens, when I unlock the car. couple of points: - its nearly always n/s window followed by o/s window - the window judders its way down - they will go back up under central locking (hold the key all the way over) - they go down on removal of key/unlocking - no water in floor plans - i tried disconnecting the o/s switch as it was doing it to see if it was that somehow sticking anyone have any ideas? or in the meantime anyone have the fuse number so i can stop them unexpectedly dropping? thanks! baz
