Hi Plumbob You could not find a more helpful and knowledgeable bunch of people. I am still a novice in this forum but the best advice I can give is search for existing answers before posting questions. Good luck with the new motor.

Hi Ron, Thanks for the posting. I am going through a similar experience. The key is finding a "finding a competant and honest speciaist". My first attempt to find such a person failed - -
It is still a quote (but expensive  ) looking car. I hope that is the end of your woes - bad things come in threes.

AVSDOYLE replied to Wibbly's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
Advice from Honest John (www.honestjohn.co.uk) is to run air conditions at lowest setting for 10 minutes and then at max setting for 10 minutes each month. I alway believe Honest John as he writes in the Daily Telegraph evey Saturday ;) -
Great idea. A few things I would add to the list are: Condition of wiper mechanism - is it about to stick Evidence that timing belt and tension pulleys? had been changed Check/ask if motor has been involved in crash Air conditioning - does it need regassed

Flip Down Screen...... Done!

Very nice - well done. It puts me in the notion to write to Santa  -
Hi, I had my cambelt changed in Dec-03 on my 1999 Galaxy 1.9Tdi. This was just before reaching the 40k mileage. Since then the car has done very low mileage. I am now approching 58k. Does the cambelt need changed every three years or can I wait until I am approaching 80k mileage in 2010! I have read the various threads about the 40k/60k intervals but I am happy to err on the side of caution on this. The Galaxy has served me very well and I can afford to return the service with a little love and care (cambelt and rollers) to ensure it continues for the next 3-4 years. TIA - Seamus
