  1. SORRY - POSTED IN MKII TECH SECTION IN ERROR! Greetings All, Its been a many-awhile since I posted. Having replaced my 52 115 TDi Ghia with a new 140 TDCi Ghia back in 2010. All has been increadibly good with this vehicle, which is now well into the mid 40K's. UNTIL NOW and maybe co-incident with the recent hot spell. It would appear that when the car gets hot under the sun - the Voice command stops working (at switch on) as does the H/F phone function. The phone book does upload but when you try and dial a number, a warning is displayed "No Link to Phone" or something close to that! When the car cools, everything fires up normally. Anyone else had a similar experience with this faciltiy? TIA, PAUL
  2. Woops! Sorry - Thanks Seatkid! Paul

  4. I would agree that turning off ESP should have no effect, as you say its only monitoring the vehicle in normal conditions. What alerted me to try this was the reaction of other posts on other car owners websites. It could be a sort of placebo effect! but my Gal is producing consistently improved MPG since actively remembering to switch off ESP at the start of a LD journey. NB - ESP always "on" in wet or damp conditions though. I could try without switching ESP off but can I afford the extra diesel? :)
  5. Hi Davewill! Yes, thats exactly what I have - never mind eh? I'll get used to it I suppose :)
  6. Hi!, The trip computer on the MK2 Gal has two memories. #1 Shows Average Fuel for trip and resets after (2Hrs?) and #2 shows a running average until reset. Does anyone know of a method to make the MK3 trip computer automatically reset after a trip or if there is a 2nd memory mode hidden away somewhere in the setups? Cheers! Paul
  7. Galaxy 3 is definatley a much thirstier beast to the Galaxy 2! Even with 240,000 miles on clock and all the seats in, my old Gal 1.9Tdi 115 could turn in an average 49-49mpg on a steady 70mph M/way cruise and around 42 at 80. This new 2.0 TDCi beast, well, 42mpg if I was lucky and dropping to 38ish at an 80 cruise. I say was, because yesterday, en-route from Herts to the Wirral and back, I switched off ESP - whoa! the average mpg started to climb to 44-46mpg at 70 and dropped to around 43 at 80! Has anyone else found better economy with ESP (Where fitted) switched OFF? Cheers! Paul
  8. Greetings! Can anyone suggest a decent source for S/Hand Bumpers for a Mondeo 2 Est, preferrably in Northern Home Counties. TIA, Paul
  9. Greetings! Having recently taken delivery of a 10 Plate Galaxy fitted with a TravelPilot FX. I was launced into the quest to find a user guide (not supplied). I quickly learnt that others were in the same boat. Various links have been suggested including http://fordfcsd.wund...-%20Navigation/ This is correct, but to find the FX instructions, the option "CD Navigation" not " TravelPilot DX-EX" needs to be selected. The manual ,an 80 page .pdf covers both the CD-SD Navigation System and the Touch Screen variant. Cheers! Paul
  10. Hi, It would appear that my company owned 213,000 mile 52 Tdi Ghia is about to be replaced with a nearly new 2.0 TDCi Titanium. Well its about time! My question is (as the colder mornings have arrived), what if any, Aux heating does the MK3 have? Cheers, Paul
  11. Hi Darton, Cant offer a fix but can offer membership to the same club! I have 52 1.9Tdi 115 and the gauge behaves in a similar fashion (since the warranty expired!). Sometimes it fails to register at all at switch-on. I find I can clear this occasionally by switching ingnition off and on again. I had the cluster checked by someone who has VAG.com, you can test all of the gauges with this ie Speed, Rev, Temp and Fuel. Mine checked out OK.
  12. Hi, The MKI and MKII Galaxy's along with thier VW and SEAT Cousins utilise VAG.com diagnostics. Can anyone tell me what the MKIII Galaxy might use and if its available to Joe Public? Cheers! Paul
  13. Sorry about the late reply to your post - only just seen it! I was under the impression that the word Zetec first appeared to describe the new generation engines for the early Mondeo's. This extract from Wikipedia goes a little further:- "Ford Motor Company used the Zetec name on a variety of Inline-4 cylinder automobile engines. It was coined to replace "Zeta" on a range of 1.6 L to 2.0 L multi-valve engines introduced in 1991. The company used the name widely in European advertising and later introduced it to the North American market with the Contour. The Zetec name was so recognized that Ford decided to apply it to other high-tech four-cylinder engines. It is used across many engine types in Europe today even though the original Zeta design ended production in 2004. Ford also confusingly used the "Zetec" name for a trim level designation in certain markets". Cheers!
  14. Hi Big Kev, I did'nt realise the Sharan was still avaialble, thought it was replaced with the Touran. VW Website says its still available. So I suppose its down to the indivdiual specs & prices from Vw or Seat. Thanks for the the tip. Paul
  15. What's wrong with the Sharan ?
