  1. Hi I had the same car and had a similar prob but a while ago now so trying to remeber what happened. when you turn A/C on does one of the cooling fans start or speed up? If not the relay controlling the fans may have packed up. It/they are located by the battery. One fan will run continuosly while the A/C is on and the second comes on as required. I replaced one of the relays and all was Ok. Hope this helps Tony.
  2. Hi I had this problem start after I did the last service, where it took longer to start when hot and it was intermitant when cold sometimes straight away sometimes longer. Anyway after reading this thread and others thought mine must be fuel filter related, so I had a butchers, There are four pipes to the fuel filter 2 seperate with spring clips (fidly things) and 2 that connect to a plastic push in fitting with a retaining clip. When I have removed the push fit fitting in the past it has always been tight to remove and push back in, whilst removing to check connections this time I was suprised how easily it popped out and the back in and on further investigation of the rubber seals they look worn, so I put a litle vaseline around seals and re-fitted. So far the starting is back to how it used to be. I will now be seeking new seals. There was now sign of a diesel leak and I don't know what the function of each pipe is but its seems to have solved my problem for now. Hope this is of some help to someone Tony
  3. Hi I had a similar problem and found the fan relays (1 unit incorporating 2 relays) by the battery were switching intermitantly once replaced all worked fine. I have a 2001 TDi.
  4. Hi Should be a label on either drivers or front passenger door post giving tyre pressures.
  5. You will notice a big improvement with a wider stance, wider rubber and lowered, I was concerned the ride would be to harsh but very pleased with the result.
  6. Hi I have just recently fitted 235's on 18" RS6 Wheels with a 42 offset and it is lowered by a 35mm eibach kit. The shop I bought the wheels from (and a few others) said I could get away with a 35 offset but I feel these would have stuck out to much and given me problems, especially on the front. I would imagine with the right offset 245's would be ok but not with a 35 offset.
  7. I have exactly the same problem with my 2001 TDi Galaxy and it is the brake light switch, the contacts burn badly and causes intrmitant operation of all brake lights, I cleaned contacts of switch to get me going and now have a new switch from Ford about

  9. Under the drivers side front indicator.
  10. Hi Does anyone else have a trip computer display that skips between the info eg mpg/time etc without touching the buttons on the end of wiper stalk. I have a 98 Ghia X. It then freezes with --- until the it feels like reseting itself and starting again. The buttons on the stalk do nothing. Regards Tony
  11. I have a 98 Galaxy and use it for work and the back door is used more than average, I have had a lot of trouble with the wiring loom going into the tail gate through the rubber cable protector and have had to repair severed cables at this point to get door lock/reversing lights/number plate lights and high level brake light to work. It's worth checking the cables at this point where they pass from car body to tail gate.
