  1. Remove the B pillar, early models (yours as you have removable grills) the sensor assembly is clipped onto the back of the pillar plastic. Later models its clipped onto the pillar itself.
  2. You don't have an immobiliser module that VCDS can talk to on the Galaxy, but the alarm system is handled by the 09-Central Electric controller anyway :rolleyes:

  4. Ford are indeed correct on this one, each plug has a pack plugged onto the top of it - this is a coil and HT "shaft" in one assembly. You should have the fault codes read, the car is able to tell you if its detected a misfire and on which cylinder its occurred. The coil assemblies are much cheaper online though (and much cheaper from VW since its their engine after all) - you can pick them up from about

You don't generally get water up in the inlet manifold if the heads gone - its more likely that the EGR cooler has cracked and you are pumping water into the intake just before the manifold (at the EGR valve), Seperate the pipe going into the EGR from below and see if water's inside. I've got a spare knocking about so let me know if you want it.

  8. Theres a LOT of ambiguity on Ebay!!! A conventional headunit is a single DIN unit. Ford's of the Mk2 Era use a weird size being DIN 1.5 and it's only the factory NAV (MFD) unit thats a proper DIN 2 unit. You'll see a lot of adverts on ebay for DIN 1.75 and 2 units which just isn't correct so beware! The two options available are to get a 0.5 Blanking plate, these are widely available and take the Galaxy's DIN 1.5 hole down to the conventional single DIN - you'll need a standard "Cage" then to hold your new headunit in place. The other option is indeed to convert the console to the NAV panel (You don't have to change switches BTW, it just looks a hell of a lot better if you do) and this option will allow you to fit any double DIN unit in place. Beware though you'll drastically restrict your choice of headunits if you do this as there arn't that many double din ones out there. Wiring wise in nearly all cases you'll need a Ford to ISO adapter. 99% of head units use the ISO standard (8 pin plugs) these days (including most factory head units in modern cars) and you'll pick this cable up easily.
  9. Its highly unlikely the ECU itself is faulty - get a second opinion! Its bolted (x2) to the floor, if you follow the centre tunnel as far back towards the bulkhead as you can go then you'll be in the right place - its behind the plastic there, basically between the two footwells. If you have ESP then you'll have another module sitting on top of it.

Sounds very much like the stub axle shearing - Sub Axle Thread - The downside is that if you've had clutch noise as well then it might need that soon but its very rare for a clutch to fail suddenly with a complete lack of drive.its nearly always the other way where its stuck in a gear.

  13. Hi Dave, I'm more skulking then back lol but yes, yours is indeed a 115PS engine. Whilst the AUY code refers to the VW 115PS engine, the early engines ECU was mapped so it only produced 285nm of torque. This was subsequently lifted to 310Nm (the engine most of us are familiar with). AUY1 was Ford's way of saying at the time that it was the later/revised 115 with 310Nm of torque.
  14. Its a 150 - an early one, hence its a ASZ1 code and not a BTB code and why Etis shows it as a 130.
  15. Quite possibly, it depends on why it shut down in the first place - also you need the outside temperature to be below 10*c for it to attempt fire...
