How To Lead A Cable From Engine Into Passenger Space?
Nuc replied to Nuc's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
Thanks so much for your help. I will try to find it. -= Nuc =- -
Hi, I am also hesitating about this electronic version of the manual: http://www.rapidmanuals.co.uk/index.php?route=product/product&keyword=galaxy&category_id=49&product_id=333 Any experience with this?

Shudder During Acceleration From Low Revs
Nuc replied to Nuc's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
Yes, it was the ignition cable no. 3... Conclusion: in high voltage, a broken cable does not necessarily mean an immediate cut of electricity. It can cheat you. Again, thanks to all of you who tried to help me in this topic. -
Shudder During Acceleration From Low Revs

O.K., the source of the problem seems to be detected and the final solution is on the way... Well, it originated from the least suspected place: one of the spark plug cables. After taking a closer look into one of the plastic covered part that connects to the spark plug, we found bad corrosion. Strangely enough, there was still nearly zero conductivity measured after cleaning the contacts. (There might be a weird minor break inside the cable). Despite that, the shuddering at low revs seems to be eliminated by a thorough cleaning! :) In order to fix this for a longer run, I have ordered a new cable. Thanks to my technician colleagues at the department, they spared me a lot of -
Shudder During Acceleration From Low Revs

Thanks so much for your comment. I have checked the coils but found none of them snapped. Since I am still without ideas, I booked a time at a Ford garage next week. (Just the diagnostics will cost more than 1200 SEK, = approx. £ 110 :) plus labour, plus spare parts). I will share my experiences with you afterwards. -
Shudder During Acceleration From Low Revs
Nuc replied to Nuc's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
It seems that nobody has any idea... :( Air intake? Clutch? Transmission? The least likely: ignition? I would be grateful for any comments. -
Hi, My 2.3 Galaxy (yr 2002, Mk-II, manual) is shuddering and shaking badly 3-5 times during accelerating from low revs. These symptoms basically start after the engine reaches nominal temp (90 C) and re-appear whenever I shift gears and speed up. It never happens again at higher revs or during steady driving, unless I drive steep uphill in 5th. Idling and overall engine running is smooth, no signs of back- or misfiring, neither loss of power, nor increased consumption. Unfortunately, the STP Complete Fuel and Injector Cleaner additive did not help. Any pointer to the cause of the problem and advice for solution would be highly appreciated. Thanks a lot. -= Nuc =-

Issue resolved! I have received the replacement fob. Reprogramming took just a few seconds, thanks to this wonderful board for the instructions. Now the remote works like a charm. I just want to repeat: part number (5FA 007 680 =/= 5WK4 790/97/98) and frequency (433.92 MHz =/= 433 MHz) do matter a lot. Greetz, -= Nuc =-

Yes, seatkid, I have contacted the seller. It seems that we are coming to a resolution because he offered a replacement fob. Unfortunately, it will cost me another 6

Last weekend I bought a "genuine Sharan/Galaxy/Seat/Skoda" keyfob on eBay. Some robots or built-in agents ;) pushed the price high up above 20+ GBP. Anyway, I won... However, the guy who sold it to me, did not clarify in time that actually 1) It was a 433 MHz version instead of 433.92 MHz. It matters a lot because it failed to respond to several attempts of reprogramming efforts 2) The fob cannot be attached to my original key part due to incompatibility (see here: http://i36.tinypic.com/9jf28x.jpg ) 3) On the photo that he provided http://i34.tinypic.com/mkix6h.jpg it seemed much the same keyfob as my Galaxy's Yes, you can call me stupid but I was not aware that the exact version I would have needed = 5WK4 790/97/98 (orig Siemens) instead of Hella... :o Now I have a useless "genuine Skoda" fob and still miss a working one for my Galaxy. That's about my first (and perhaps the last) eBay transaction... -= Nuc =-

Wow, what a fast response! Thanks so much, seatkid, for the great illustrations. Now I know at least what the PATS chip is and where it is located... But still got no idea why the LED doesn't react for pressing any buttons. -= Nuc =-

Thanks for your responses. I have replaced the batteries with 2x brand new Varta CR2016 (3V) ones. My experiences are a bit strange: the red LED just came ON intermittently while pressing the UNLOCK button on the key. AFAIK the LED should be lit every time when you press any button. I opened again the keyfob and carefully cleaned the contacts. No result! The LED was never lit again... I re-checked the polarity of the batteries. (Obviously, + is on the top, - on the bottom, producing 6 Volts altogether, and there is a small metallic plate between the 2 batteries). The 2 micro switches under the LOCK/UNLOCK buttons nicely click so I don't suspect any malfunctioning there. I don't try to reprogram the key until I manage the LED working again. Any idea what can be wrong? Thanks in advance. -= Nuc =- BTW, I noticed that there wasn't any chip (PATS) that can be dropped off from the keyfob. The chip is actually soldered on a PCB, which may become loose. A tiny black plastic stuff CAN drop off but it's just a cover for the chip.

Hi, as a newbie, may I have a few silly questions plz? I have a 2002 model Galaxy 2.3, which came with 2 keys: one remote (with 2 batteries and a removable chip inside) and a "slim" key. I lock/unlock the car manually because the batteries in the remote key have been dead for a long time. Now I decided to replace the batteries. Yes, I have read the FAQ but it made me a bit more confused... I just wonder what is the role of the removable chip (PATS ?) inside the remote key? How is it possible that I can lock/unlock + start the engine with the "slim" key, which has no PATS at all? Do I need to re-program the remote key after the battery replacement? Your help is much appreciated. More questions may follow after the first unsuccessful attempt... Greetz, -= Nuc =-

It seems that I am so much a newbie that I cannot initiate any new topic, yet... Cannot even see the attached figures/photos... Nice restriction, anyway. Greetz, -= Nuc =-
