  1. I had exactly the same problem on my 2000 Mk2 2.3 Ended up replacing the complete tensioner, no more squealing when it was cold.
  2. I replaced mine as it was noisey on cold mornings. Had to buy the complete tensioner unit with pulley as they wouldn't sell the pulley seperate. Mine is a 2000 facelift 2.3 with the aircon but i'm sure it's the same tensioner. I still have the old one that works fine if it's any use to you and would get you back on the road till after christmas. Let me know, could post out tomorrow for you. Cheers Paul.
  3. Have just removed my Brink detachable towbar from my Mk2 galaxy. Had it on the car for just over a year and cannot fault it. It comes with the black and grey sockets already wired, that swing up out of the way so no visible signs of a towbar show when it's not on. Both relays are included for the wiring of the lighting and caravan charging circuits. All bolts etc. are included and the bag for the tow ball. Cost just over
  4. I tow a 23 foot bailey with my 2.3 auto MK2. Don't have any problems at all. Tows really well, very stable.
  5. It sounds like head gasket between cylinders 3 & 4. All the compression is going out of the adjacent cylinder on the compression stroke. At low revs it will be ok as the engine will be under little load, as it is when doing 70 mph. Would be worthwile have the valves cut back in whilst the head is off. If it was rings, oil pressure would be high resulting from compression entering the oil system and or grey smoke from exhaust.
  6. I had compressor failure, replaced that and had recharge only to loose all the gas within days. Long story short, it was a faulty valve on the bulkhead where pipes enter cabin. All working fine now (Wish I hadn't said that)
  7. That's so funny. Would have loved to have seen his face
  8. Just want to say Hi to everyone & thanks for all the the tips and advice posted on the forum. It's been a tremendous help in solving problems with my car.
  9. Would say it's maf related. Car should run rough with maf disconnected or even stall. Makes sense that the power is down as the ecu cannot measure the correct airflow.
  10. I had a similar problem. When they are switched on, lightly run your finger over each sensor. You should feel a light buzzing / ticking feeling from each one that has power. Mine was a broken wire just as it came out of the rear sensor. Hope that's some help.
