  1. I have just converted my Seat Ahlhambra 2.0l petrol to an 110BHP AFN Diesel due to a rather poor manual conversion that someone had done causing numerous problems. Most of the parts were sourced from a VW Sharan and engine from a Passat. After a lot of head scratching all was together all electrics appeared to be working and then the moment of truth..... It wouldn't start yes the engine turned over fine but just made a lot of smoke and no go. Possibly air in the fuel? I don't think so. Anyway we faffed about checked this and that as suggested in other posts on the forum. Still no go We then changed the brake pedal switch as it was a bit iffy and had come across this in newer VW's and thought it was worth a shot and checked the rear restraining belt warning switch (Disabled Converted). Finally it started The starting takes quite a while then it runs a little rough but picks up after a few seconds possibly a little more smoke than there should be (white)??? However when running the glow plug light flashes. Is there any one else who has come across issues such as these or anyone who has any ideas on what could be the problem?
  2. it is actuatly a disabled conversion with a raised roof and ramp at the rear thats why i went for slightly larger wheels to see if the handeling could be improved as the suspension cannot be altered due to th lowered fuel tank. it's a bit different to what i have been used to in the past eg audi coupes and quattro's
  3. yes they are reinforced tyres that was the first box to tick but thanks for checking big kev. they are Toyo PROXES T1-R 235/45 ZR17 97Y RF Rim-protection
  4. I thought the tyres had to be minimum 95 rating i have ordered the 235 45 17 97 from mytyres an will give them a go thanks for the replies any way jamie
  5. help the wheels on my alhambra do not have the right weight rating tyre size 225/45/17 94 but the local tyre shops in the area say there is no higher rating for this tyre size but they have plenty of 235/45/17 97 the question is the rim width is 7j is it safe to put 235 tyres on inplace of the 225. all the garages say check with the dealer but they wont say as they are not standard fit wheels thanks in advance jamie
  6. thanks for the replys people i think i will take a risk and get them. looks like i have my bank holiday weeked booked up now just have to hope it passes the mot on saturday morning at 7.00am cheers for the advice jamie

  8. Help !!! I have a Seat Alhambra 2.0l 8V petrol (1998) that started life as an auto at some point in time someone decided to fit a manual gearbox and not reprogrammed the ECU. The problem is ye old Alhambra now has an identity crisis and doesn't want to communicate to enable the changes to be made to the ECU. Apparently this can be done manually but I need to find someone who has a pre 2000 Alhambra/ Sharan 2.0l manual with abs and has some VAG-COM DTC data available to check some codes against. Could someone let me if the codes below are the same on the manual version? 10. why are they not the most reliable of systems?
  11. the sort of probs i am having are brakes as when i got the car a few weeks ago the servo was hissing from the pedal when using the brakes also pedal was nearly down to the floor so replaced servo new discs and pads and bled up the system using easy bleed and tryed the old 2 man method but when the car is running the pedal is still going to the floor almost but when the engine is not running the pedal is almost at the top. I also had a handbrake issue +exhaust problem +fuel tank leak but these are now sorted. The other probs are the cruise and the air con but not worried about these until i actaly get the car on the road cheers jamie
