Thanks for the pointers to the info. I've got to say it turned out to be surprisingly easy given the right tools, so I'm delighted to have saved the -
Replacing Window Regulator
Paul Marsland replied to Paul Marsland's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
Thanks for the advice... I think I'll give it a go. I wasn't planning on doing a magic trick by climbing inside the door to do the repair job though, so I'll try to do it all from the outside  -
Apologies for repetition of any prior threads... I couldn't find one that covered my exact questions. I've got a Sharan 2.8 V6... used to have a Galaxy 2.3l Ghia. Had a horrible grinding noise from the front passenger window when closing it on Sunday, leaving the window half open. I removed the door card yesterday to investigate the problem... turns out the cable in the regulator has been chewed up in the mechanism. The motor is fine - I've tried it having disconnected the regulator/cables. I've also wedged the window shut for the time being with wood. How easy a job is it to replace the regulator ? I'm pretty inexperienced, but from what I can see it shouldn't be too much of a challenge. Is it worth even thinking about replacing just the cables - looks very intricate and a challenge to get the right tension and cable length. I've had VWs quote me

Catalytic Converter

Catalytic converter has just gone on my 97 2.3 Ghia so tried this route. Price I got from my local distributor came to -
I had to take my pollen filter out when I was investigating the problem with blocked scuttle drains... they'd backed right up, flooded the footwell via the pollen filter inlet and trashed the ECU. I didn't need to remove the windscreen wipers, just put them upright. The key to getting the filter out for me was removing the plastic shelf underneath after removing (I think) 3 bolts. It then slid out right over to the drivers side. Where's the best value place to buy a new pollen filter... I ended up just cleaning the one I had but haven't got round to replacing it yet. I know I should as there is too much moisture in the air con system and the windows steam up very badly in the wet weather.

Coding A Sharan Remote Key Fob
Paul Marsland replied to dfh101's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
I've tried to get my 2.3 Ghia 1997R Galaxy into the programming mode umpteen times over the last several days without success (ie the unlock 3x for .5 seconds inside 5 seconds). I assume that the door lock LED referred to is the one on the drivers door that flashes when the alarm is enabled ? I've changed batteries in the remote key, and the light on the key itself flashes when you press either of the lock/unlock buttons... however I can't get the door lock LED to light up in the first place to enter the programming mode. Is there any trick to getting into the programming mode ? Or do I likely have a problem with the ECU (which incidentally I had to have replaced 3 months ago following the footwell flooding problem) ? Any suggestions gratefully received. -
I've got a 1997 2.3 Ghia, and have just spent quite a while trying to get the remote key reprogrammed. I can't remember it ever having actually worked, but I finally got round to getting some new batteries..... thought my wife might appreciate not having to fumble around with a key in the cold over the next few days. The LED on the key works when I press either of the buttons, so I know the batteries have been fitted OK. The problem is that I cannot get the LED to light on the door to indicate the programming phase has been entered... I've tried putting the key into the unlock position 3 times inside 5 seconds for .5 seconds each time (at least to my estimate of the timing) but without success. The door LED does light when the car has been locked and the immobiliser is on, so it's not that the LED is bust either. Does anyone have any tricks of the trade to get the timing right for entering the programming sequence ? Or have I ended up with a Galaxy that doesn't actually have remote central locking... I've simply been passed a "remote" key as one of the 3 keys when I bought it second hand 5 yrs ago, when it's not got a remote sensor installed ! Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

Water In Footwell
Paul Marsland replied to oioisavaloy's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
Saw your email to me SAV.... no reply address, so I'll post here instead. Touch wood, I have sorted my problem out, and it was the usual problem documented loads of times of the scuttle drains being blocked up. We've had rain several times since, and it seems to be clearing well now... did my now usual quick check earlier today under the passenger seat and was very relieved (and proud <_< ) to find it bone dry. Looks like you've got a different problem unfortunately. -
They insured us, but wouldn't let me protect the no claims bonus. The

Thanks for the pointers. eSure just did it for me. I thought I'd been getting a good deal from Direct Line as they seemed to be coming in

Didn't check eBay properly... too many to choose from now

I like it. So to cure the blocked drain problem I NEED TO BUY MYSELF A JET WASH. Wondered when I'd get a good excuse. Good answer.... at least it works out cheaper than buying another new ECU. Checked eBay... nothing.

Only discovered this forum yesterday.... thanks for all the existing info posted up and the replies to my posts on water leaks. My NSR window isn't working... I'm pretty sure it's broken wires in the loom inside the rubber boot connecting the door to the body. Are these easy to replace/mend, and does anyone know of sources other than Ford ?
-
I would use a hose and risk flooding the footwell, but I'm right out of dry towels :o I'm hoping I've fixed it as when I was clearing out the muck earlier today, I did manage to drain the water that was there... hopefully through the wheel arch as there did look to be some additional water around there afterwards. Could have been into the footwell, but I don't think I could have told if it was as there was enough water in there to start with anyway. Want I want to make sure is that I can stop this happening again. Couldn't track down a TIS....

How did you take the inner plastic wing off ? I had an interesting time trying to squeeze my hand into the space where I believed the drain was by the pollen filter... I'm 6'7" and my hands aren't the smallest ever... Any extra space would be very useful !

I've just had exactly the same problem (ie water under the passenger seat) on my 1997 R-reg 2.3 Ghia... unfortunately didn't spot the problem in time to prevent the EMU getting trashed. After checking out the numerous posts to this forum on the water leaking problem, I've just spent this lunchtime checking out the area around the pollen filter and found that the drains were indeed blocked. Managed to get most of the debris out from there, but would appreciate guidance on the best way to totally clear it. I've got my fingers crossed (but with towels still ready at hand) that I've fixed the water leak now. Otherwise it's time to get the groundsheet out again to cover the car in the rain ! 3 questions: 1: What's the best option to replace the pollen filter - I've heard that Ford supplied ones are
