I have managed to program the door locking on my key fob. The problem I have is that when the key is inserted into the ignition it does not work. The spare key works fine. I got the procedure to program the key in the ignition barrel. However, the procedure asks for 2 keys. Insert key1 then key 2 and then add the key to program. It is key 2 (remote key) that needs programming again. How do I solve this one, without going to ford and paying

Please can anyone advise where I can get a Ford Galaxy 2001 Horse show key blank. My key does not the start the vehicle but to open doors via key and the remote transponder works ok. When I compare the key with the spare cannot spot any signs of wear that would stop the ignition from operating. Assistance req'd. Thanks

I bought my Galaxy from new, 2001 model. The cruise control has never worked. The ford garage (HARTWELL), could not fix it. The service manager was very rude and he said that it is a FORD problem and should take it upo with ford. HARTWELL only a DEALER and sell cars, they are not design authority. Any 6 years on, problem is still not fixed. I am going to replace car soon, so have given up chasing this issue. FORD have lost another customer after 35 loyal years with ford.

I have had a similar problem. Initialliy by coming out of vehicle and then open and closing door gets it started. The problem now is when I put key in ignition, engine will not turn at all. Someone said that the programing is messed up and needs reprogramming. However, on reading all the key fob threads, programming is necessary if you cannot get into vehicle. The central locking is working fine. If I use the spare keys, not key fob type, the vehicle starts without a problem. Looking at the key, slight wear on teeth, but is OK when viewed under microscope. Have you resolved your problems. Please advise what further steps you took. The Galaxy is a 2001 Y Reg 2.3i Ghia model. thanks Jay

I have an issue with my remote key. it will not start the car but the remote function is OK. Before this state, I was able to start the car if I did the following. get in and out of the car, lock and unlock the car couple of times and then all was OK. If I use the spare key, the car starts straight away. Can anyone help. jay
