  5. no shit it really is that heavy i took it off and was amaised at the weight of it as for towing etc it seems on a lot of the forum that the 115 tdi auto is ideal for towing and also a lot of the c club sites say its excellent so i dont think the box will destroy its self if it does get raggy i will just sell it and buy a merc ML or bmw x5 for my pennies worth if like me you change the oil and filter on the gearbox it will make loads of difference not trying to be smart or anything but i asked some question on the forum last week and got completely duff info like it has no filter!!! i guess then that some people on the forum get the garage to do it all and have no clue whatsoever of the mechanical side of the galaxy the oil i used was specific to ford and matched the numbers to the halfords stuff which was the same
  6. the tray is forward of the wheels so it cant be spray and the steering is a sealed unit so it cant harm that steve

  11. gearbox now better slick changing and better more positive selection all in all it cost about
  12. also ive found the filter its located at the top of the sump
  13. hi empited via the drain overflow about a litre came out then undid the sump and removed the sump oil very dirty but no particles im thinking at the viscosity its the wrong oil looks and smells like 20/50 ive bought 3 ltrs from halfords ford specific oil at 6.29 a litre so if it take 3 then its a cheap job if you take the sump off dont do like i did and have some paper ready to catch the 3lts etc oil thats pisses all over your arm ace any thing else you guys can add i would be pleased to hear steve

  16. hi i have a 1.9tdi galaxy auto on a 99 v plate we tow with it with a new bailey ranger 550/6 superb machine cant fault it we took it out a couple of weeks ago on a journey of approx 80 miles 60 miles in i had no drive let it cool drive again the ford garage say that the fluid transfer isnt correct but its something they dont do im in the thinking that the gearbox fluid is low and the "filter needs changing too" (to quote the other ford garage) where is the "filter" located as ivenever heard of an auto gearbox needing a filter where do i find the level plug and do i fill it via the level plug too and what fluid is needed also do i need a bigger cooler as the engine temp goes up slightly also can the oilcooler be increased in size!! and also where would i get one from
