I have a similiar problem with my trip computer, I carry a camera, photograph the faulty display and email the photo to the Service Manager each time, fill his inbox. He has commited to fix the problem in a couple of weeks when he is replacing the steering column.

I have no problem with the speed at which my 2.0 Zetec heats ups, although its not quite as fast as my wife's 1.25 Fiesta. As far as the engine stalling I have the same problem on cold damp mornings. Wait for glow plugs, start the car, and if you let it idle while adjusting your seatbelt, mirror etc it will die. Only fix I have found is to go staight for high revs which I don't like on a cold engine.
