  1. Hi, Just noticed your post and wonder whether my 2003 130PS manual Ghia in silver would be of interest to you. 38,000 miles with full history. Let me know if you would like more information. - Santefe999
  2. That'swhere I would look first. Good luck. It's getting warmer! Anywhere near London? These guys are brilliant! http://www.airconditioningforcars.co.uk/
  3. Hi. When you turn the ignition switch on does the electronic air con panel flash at you for about 15 seconds or does it immediately come on and stay on? If it flashes there undoubtedly is a fault and I suspect it may be low on gas. Did you leave it running on Auto throughout the winter? I have been told that it is best to run the air con throughout the year as this stops the sediment in the system rotting the seals. Get the system tested. A refill is expensive at frauds but an independent will do the job just as well and a lot cheaper.
  4. Tried mumof4's suggestion but, sadly, no luck. Many thanks though, it could have worked. After several phone calls I have established that it is a VagCom re-set job. However, I was just wondering if anyone knows of any alternative method to re-set tha airbarg warning light that does not require me visiting "the robbers down the road". Why is nothing simple these days!!!
  5. Right, well this is a story of several parts. Firstly, the passenger footwell on my Mk 2 is waterlogged. It is NOT the rear wash pipe and I don't believe its the pollen filter. I have also cleared the drains and can confirm that the water runs away correctly. I suspect the windscreen so I am having that checked out. However, having removed the front passenger seat to get at everything meant I had to disconnect the front passenger seat electrics under the seat, The connector for the airbag situated in the side of the seat unclipped fairly easily. but, on refitting everything, the dash now tells me that there is an airbag fault. The warning light in the centre of the rev counter dial initially goes out but then comes back on and stays on. I am rapidly losing all faith and the will to live! Do the airbag electrics have to be reset and, if so, must I really have to endure the sychophantic little man at you know where?
  6. Job Done! Chalk up another success to this great forum. Now............does anyone have any ideas why the 25 rated fuse on my auxillery heater keeps on blowing?
  7. Ask and ye shall receive!!! Thanks guys (and girls), the diagrams are "spot on". I can only hope now that it will all be worth it as it looks like I need to write off a good half day to do this. Will update later.
  8. Try pulling on it slowly and make sure its not on a slant. The belt comes out OK. It just will not go back!
  9. I haven't taken the seat out yet but when I do I still need to find out how to get to the mechanism behind the trim. I have checked that the belt is not twisted, the fault is definately with the automatic seat belt retraction mechanism. I found that some carefully placed WD40 did the trick on the front belt which had jammed the same way. Trouble is I cannot get to it.
  10. Hi. Can anyone please help me by describing how I can get to the seat belt mechanism for the middle row passenger seat that is situated behind the drivers seat. It is jammed and will not automatically retract causing problems when the passenger gets out the car and slams the door! I have successfully managed to get to the drivers seat belt mechanism that jammed and have sorted that out but cannot see how to get access to the seat behind. I don't really want to start pulling stuff away without knowing what actually does move and what doesn't! Sorry, should have said it's a Mk2, 2003 TDI Ghia.
  11. Thanks for the "heads up". I'll give them a try.
  12. Was this a main dealer? It sounds really excessive to me. However, please tell me where you got 3 tyres for
  13. An obvious point I know but it may be worth checking the brake fluid reservoir level. Otherwise it may be well to suspect a seized caliper. - santefe999
  14. Yeah. Wondered if it was a brute force job but I am scared of pulling he whole dash out! I'll give it a try in the morning when I can see what I am doing. Why is nothing simple?
  15. Following my first ever posting yesterday as a newbie and now being promoted to the major league I wonder if any of you experts out there can help. Despite my best efforts and the guidance of one kind soul who tried to help I still cannot get the wretched perspex fuse box cover off my 2003 Galaxy TDI Ghia 130PS. Now I am no expert but I am also not stupid (well I think so but my wife questions that thought sometimes) but try as I may it will not come off! Any sensible suggestions would be much appreciated. - santefe999
  16. Its under the front passenger seat in the well (literally). The well fills with water and the electrics become waterlogged. I'm wondering if this has caused the fuse to blow - hence my original question. The galaxy is a really useful vehicle but has some really puzzling design faults!
  17. I know Santefe999 ...... nothings ever easy on these believe me and I ve only had mine for 8 months! ..... Canterbury hey? know it well from my long distant past. I lived just outside Ashford and had some very good school freinds in Faversham. You would think that I'd learn wouldn't you? This is my second and both have filled up with water! Need to get the kids some scuba gear. I need to get to the fuses to check if the parking sensor fuse has blown. I've cleaned the circuit board up and dried it out but the blooming things still won't work!
  18. Thanks. I'll give that a try when I get home. Watch the news for reports of a big black cloud over Canterbury! Seriously though, I can't believe a simple job could be so difficult! Santefe999
  19. :D Hi and apologies to everyone if I'm doing this wrong but this is my first attempt to post a topic. Can any one please tell me how to get the perspex cover off the fuse box of my 2003 TDI Ghia 130PS. I've pushed and I've pulled but do you think I can get the cover off? Any help would be appreciated. Santefe999
