  1. Thanks again. I'll take a look again at the weekend and unbolt and clean the silver mystery thingy (technical term). It doesn't look like the pic at all. Should the EGR valve bolt directly to the inlet manifold? I'll take a picture, that may help. Cheers
  2. Excellent thanks for the pic. I have just checked and it seems that I don't have one but I do have a small silver looking tube with a wider thin flange aroung the middle. That has a thin pipe running to the air intake after the MAF and a larger pipe disappearing down the back of the engine block. This silver 'thing' is bolted to the engine block at the rear of the engine on the top right, looking into the engine bay from the front. Does anyone know what this is? I thought this might be the EGR but it looks a lot smaller than the diagram. Cheers
  3. I have a 2.3L MK1 Galaxy and am having a problem with the car holding back once warmed up. When it occurs, if I floor the Gal it jolts and after about 2/3 seconds will stop holding back and drive OK. I have read elsewhere that it could be the EGR valve, either split hoses or coked up. My question to you all is Where the hell is it? I want to clean it or even maybe blank it off. I have spent what seems like hours staring at the engine bay, maybe I should go to Specsavers !! Cheers Steve
  4. just stick the chip to the inside of the ignition cowling.....simples ;) ps. not tried it yet though, will do today. will use tape first ^_^ before I make it permanent
  5. Doh! a bit a lateral thinking out side of the box (so to speak) and my PATS problem and only 1 working key is fixed. Top Man
  6. Sorry to jump on this as well. I also have a 2.3L but in a MK1 1999 T reg Ghia X. ....and yes I am also looking for some software to diagnose the engine control module. I currently have VAG.com and a USB serial lead working fine but would also like to check out the engine. Can anyone help? Cheers Steve :D :D PS......Mikej......You can check out the ABS fault with VAG.com BUT from reading various forums it appears that the Air Bag control module when connected to VAG.com can then cause other air bag fault codes and stop it from working. Check out the Ross Tech website for more info. Also the Digital-Kaos website had lots of very good info. Cheers
  7. We've got Hancook's on our Galaxy and to be honest they are probably the best tyres that we have had on the 'Funbus'. my experiences are : Continental's = Absolutely Rubbish...the funbus would consistantly understeer. Dunlop's = wear out too quick Goodyear Vectra something = not made anymore and as good as the Hancook's I would definitely recommend them but I'm sure we only paid about
