  1. Got a 2007 MkIII and am in the process of selling it. Noticed the clutch slipping in the last week. Is this normal for a 37000 mile car - will ford stump up for it?
  2. Had this exact same problem with mine. Eventually got it fixed under warranty, but the dealer needed two attempts to get it right. This car has been in to the dealer with three faults so far and every time it has needed to go back a second time cos the job wasnt done properly!
  3. I dont know how anyone can criticise the look of the new galaxy when comparing it to a MkII. The old one is exactly that - old and completely unstylish! I've had my galaxy for six months now and although I've had a few minor problems I am pretty pleased with it. Faults I've had include the front carpets coming adrift, a piece of trim below the rear passenger window starting to fall off and some concerns about the paintwork (in terms of chipping). I think the car looks great (and at least looks modern compared to the frumpy MkII), the 2.0 Tdci is a superb engine and it goes brilliantly. I find the car very comfortable and have recently done two non stop return trips to Cumbria from Somerset without the slightest discomfrot. This niggle with the quality of the seats is pure nonsense. One or two issues I do have, and lets face it, it is very rare to own a car that you dont have some niggles with, are as follows: 1. I find the aircon totally impossible to set - it is either blowing cold all day or blowing warm all day - the fan always seems to be blasting air out! 2. I have a windscreen of the non solar variety and it frankly heats the car up like a green house! 3. The boot floor needs redesigning - when you have stuff in the boot it not only slides around far too much, but when you open the tailgate something always falls out of the back and onto the floor. This is the same whether you have shopping in the back or suitcases! Other than these points (and the fact that Ford service is utter carp - as are all car companies!) I love this car! - and I certainly wouldnt take a Veccy 1.6 in it's place - I'd rathe rride a bike than be seen in a Veccy!!!!!!
  4. I've got a 2.0tdci new galaxy and get no steering whine at all, so dont accept the answer that it is how it should sound because it isnt!
  5. Well, done the trip and over the moon. Left at 5.30, did over 600 miles, got back at 7.30 and had four hours of meetings. Car did extremely well. Averaged 38 to the gallon, with the majority of the journey completed at over 90 mph. 2.0 diesel engine has loads of grunt, is very quiet and extremely responsive. Car rides extremely well and seats are very comfortable. All in all well pleased. This is all very good, as I have to do more or less the same trip this weekend!
  6. Well the day has finally arrived when I pick up my new car - after much longer waiting than I was told by the dealer, I pick up my 2.0 Tdci Ghia with panorama roof today. Expectation has been building, let's hope we are not disappointed. I go on a 580 mile round trip tomorrow, so all being well I'll let you know how I get on! Will post some pictures when I can take some. ;) ;)
  7. Guess I must be unusual. I have gone from a VW Touraeg 4x4 to a new galaxy. Reasons being: 1. VW was excessively expensive to run 2. VW treated me very badly when the car went wrong and was off the road for 4 weeks. 3. Galaxy has seven seats 4. Galaxy will be much cheaper to run 5. Galaxy cost less than two thirds the price of the Touraeg. 6. Ford garage treated me extremely well - let's hope it continues! 7. Loved the look of the new galaxy and it had some good reviews. 8. VW kept falling apart /breaking down which isnt good enough for
  8. I recently tried a new galaxy and was told it was a 1.8tdci, but was amazed how quick it was. Is it possible they conned me and it was really a 2l instead. I've ordered a 2l now, so if there is no difference between that and the test drive I shall go back and ask why!!! Call me cynical
  9. I think they will have to change this. it must be putting people off buying the cars. It nearly deterrred me but I stuck with it.
  10. Also, I was amazed by how light the tailgate was and how high it lifted. Compared to the opposition it was far superior. I must say a lot of people say they dont like the look of the new car, but I dont get that. The new cars shape is really nice compared to the old ones fuddy duddy looks. Also now you know it is a ford whereas before it could have been a seat!
  11. I've just come over to the galaxy. I have ordered a new 2l diesel ghia and I must say the spare wheel issue was the one worrying thing for me. But I've decided to give it a go. Never had a serious puncture in 25 years of driving, guess they will all start happening now! Surely ford will have to change this because it must be affecting sales!
