I thought that was the problem as one was seized,so changed both sides, had to cut cups and nut off of shock,so new shocks top bushes and bearings, also replaced bottom ball joint and new drop links as they were apart. Have disconnected steering column as it felt like a joint on that, but that moves freely,so it has to be in the pinion gearing ? Cant see anyone that has taken a rack out, didn't know how much grief it was, as it seems` very tight where pinion goes into bulkhead and subframe. GETTING TO OLD FOR CRAWLING UNDER CARS

I have a bad creaking noise coming from my steering rack on my 2003 galaxy.Have been underneath car when wife turning wheel ,with engine off and sounds like it needs greasing in the pinion gearing. I assume that I will need to change the rack,it seems very tight where the rack goes into car do I need to drop the sub-frame a bit ?

THANKS FOR YOUR HELP..... it was a large broken brown wire and large yellow and red wire in rubber gaiter shorting out. Took the door cad off and pulled the loom out to solder,a real pain getting plug back together, need small hands, had to get the wife out.

You dont leaver it off, you push the door card up to release card from clips as door card brackets are slotted on the underside.

But I dont get how my hazard lights flash once when I press the switch, is there any wires that would short to the hazards. Just look when you lock the car with the key the hazards flash once,so must be short from central locking to that switch ?.

The switches are rectangular with round corners to them, I have the silver fascia ,having looked a pictures of Sat Nav fascia they look like square corners in black fascia. Poped over to Halfords to look at double din units and they are 120mm with the trim,so would have to cut out top and bottom.

Hi All I have been looking at putting double din unit in my 2003 Galaxy. I have looked at Sat Nav option, but the cost of fascia and new switches and going into Ford has put me off of this route Has anyone look at or has cut out the section that is under the cup holders, this would then give me 110mm. I know there would be a bit of bodging required, but not having taken the radio out not to sure about any other problems.

Thanks for the help.As i didnt know where the connection to the front screen are, i was just going to pull out the main fuse for the screen as i thought this would be the best way to isolate the screen, didnt know it was going to be so difficut to get to.I have also pulled the main fuse to the rear screen 51 and the fuse 19 is still blowing.Havent looked at heated water jet yet or the blowers as i assume the front and rear are on fuse 19.But as stated before part of the screen is not heating and there was a fault on the screen in vag com
-
Thanks.. but how do you get to that ??? i have stripped the bottom of the dash down and i have it so i can still use the car as is.But cant see the fuses or the relay at the back or are they hidden in the fuse board ???.Sorry for being a pain.
-
Thank.. that helps,if ive got to go there i could pull out heated front screen relay. I think it could be this as its not heating all the screen and when connected to vag com it had a fault.

Help I have a 2003 1.9tdi ghia and heater blowers have stopped also heated front and rear screen. Fuse 19 blowing, so trying to track the cause, i think it may be heated front screen causing the problem but cant find main fuse for it, owners manual says it is 73 but fuses only go to 62 in fuse box. Does anyone know where to find it or where power connects to screen as its not on the bottom. Thanks

I think i had that to start with.Have put Vac Com on and cant find any faults.Car brakes OK
-
When i took the old pads out i cut the wires close to the plug. But i did put a wire across the pins on the car plug and still getting warning BRAKE FAULT SERVICE MANUAL
-
Just changed the rear pads on my 03 TD ,put pads in without sensors. Now pad warning light and buzzer is coming on, any ideas how to clear it.
-
You should be able to go to i think 18 aux heater and scan it. If it finds module look at fault codes and clear them.Aux Heater should start up from cold if outside temprature is 10c or under. To do full scan it is the sharan, but it will take ages and not really worth it as you are only looking at the heater module. Hope this helps

Remote Unlocks But Doesn't Always Lock

Probably the key remote playing up, new batteries could solve problem, but wouldn -
I am talking about run on pump to the auxheater not the water pump
-
I am only going by the posts from JohnR about replacing brushes on the pumps and the cars heating up quicker. All I wanted in the first place was an explanation how the pumps works, as after replacing the glow plug (because aux heater not heating and blowing out clouds of smoke) hasn

Yes it does kick back in and stays on but it just seems to take a long time to heat up the car. I would have assumed the car would heat up a lot quicker than it does, having read the posts about putting a new pump on and the car being up to working temperature in 3 minute. It just seems having replaced the glow plug and getting the heater working hasn
